In beta software I have “reduce the input delay on line-in” option. You can also change the sensitivity to High and see if that helps with the delay between the needle.
But how did you get to stereo pair two Balances and get the stereo sound from line in record player? I have read and heard that is not possible. If you use multiroom feature with beosound core or other way, you are not getting the true stereo sound (separate left and right channel) but the speakers probably are playing at the same time.
It all depends how much you need to invest for another Balance.
If the cost is close to Beolab 8 I really advise to go for the 8, and later buy another one for a pair. Until then you can use the 8 in another room same as Balance at the moment.
One of the drawbacks of Balance pair is you cannot use the external source like a record player. For me that was really a dealbreaker. And beolabs are easier to connect to TV or upgrade the surround in the future.
I currently have Beosound 2 and before I made my decision I have looked at the frequency range just to know which one of solo beo speakers is the best. Guess what? After listening to all of them, this one was the best sounding for my music mix. For me beosound has the deepest bass although balance and A9 on paper have similar specs. Comparison with horsepower is good, you can buy a 500 horsepower american musle car but 300 horsepower hatchbacks are just as fast and much more nimble and practical most of the time. And I have experienced it with beosound 2. I never use 90% volume nor deepest bass settings. It is just not practical in Real world to go full throttle. Most of the time I just want to relax listening my favourite music.
I am looking at the Beolab range now, and I would also want to hear them all before deciding, but all other things aside, reading the specs one could think:
beosound 2/a9/balance > beolab18 > beolab 8 > beosound Theater > beolab 28
Is that a thing guys? Considering specs only, and all other functions, stereo vs solo things aside. Reading just the specs: frequencies, 1m spl and bass possibilities?
By the way Geoff it is so wonderful to read the thoughts of an artist about they work! I love interviews with movie creators just like I love reading Geoff thoughts about sound and Bang Olufsen has always been art for me while the others are just sound equipment.
I have read the whole topic, but did not find the answer.
How does Theatre work paired with older speakers like 8000 with record player source(stereo 2.0 sound)? Does it help with bass management (theatre as sub) etc. or it’s just playing from the external speakers?
Can you upmix record player 2.0 sound to 5.1 and use theatre and paired speakers ?
How does it work? Anybody experienced this?
How does theatre work with better speakers like 28’s with 2.0 source?
I think about pairing theatre to old beolab 8000 and record player, and I wonder if the theatre would sound better than the 8000 pair.
