Is the driver upgraded simultaniusly when connected with the pc or do you have to download it first if the latter were to find it?
It should install with the CT when you first install it. It sounds like it did and then Windows Tools messed it up!
I would remove the CT and start again. Use REVO Uninstaller to completely remove the CT tool and drivers. Then do a fresh install. If I recall, you have to install without the Beo6 connected, then connect when it asks.
Also it is VERY IMPORTANT to note, the Beo6 does not charge very well when connected to the USB on th PC. Make sure it is fully charged before to connect it to the PC. If you get to the stage of getting it working and begin programming – keep it fully charged inbetween each try with the CT tool. If you try too many times while connected to the PC USB i will rub=n down th battery.

You will need to be very patient and expect a steep leaning curve to get the remote connected and running. Then programming is also complex.
The reason I suggest a Virtual Machine (VM) is because they are free (VM Ware Workstaion or Oracle VM Virtual Box) and you can make as many as you want so you can experiment with Windows 32bit and Windows 64bit and load the Config Tool into each.
You can also make a Windows XP (32bit or 64bit) VMs. Windows XP seems to be the most relaible for programming Beo5/Beo6.
But, if your Beo6 connects to you Windows 10 and you can program it, then there is no need to use VMs

Hi Staffan,
- The latest Configuration tool is 6.84.
- Sometimes a google search will find the link to the tool to download.
- With the Configuration Tool, you tick the box “Work Offline” and press OK and the Config tool will open.
- There are lots of issues with the different Config Tools and all Versions of Windows (aslo with 32bit and 64bit)
- I would not go down the disconnecting the battery just yet. This is a last resort.
What version of the Config Tool do you have? I would disconnect the Beo6, then load the the tool (work offline), and then connect the Beo6 to see if it connects and if it does, it might do any updates.
Let us know how you get on with this step.
Do you know how to use Virtual Machines? They are excellent for trouble shooting Beo5/Beo6 issues.
This may also help
Regards Stoobie
If you do experiment with these settings, take photos of the current settings so you can restore them if you mess anything up.

Hello Andreas,
Thank you for checking your remote. Unfortunately the Beo5 and BS5 don’t communicate 2-way so the Beo5 radio stations cannot harmonise with the BS5. You have to manually put what is on the display on BS5 onto buttons on the Beo5. The station logos can sometimes be found in the configuration tool or taken from the internet but might need some “photshop” work first.

Hi Andreas,
It sounds like you are doing very well with your set up. Congratulations.
I do not have BS5 so do not know how the Radio Stations should look and harmonise.
Can I please ask you to confirm that your remote is definitely a Beo5 and not the newer Beo6 which has WiFi and connects to the BS5.
If it is the Beo6 you my need to look at getting it to connect to harmonise the radio stations.
You might wish to start a new discussion in the Beo5/Beo6 forum where other users can assist you better than me 🙂

Hello Andreas
I am very glad you were able to change your Beo5 from dealer mode. Hopefully the IR Range is as good as your Beo4 now.
In your earlier post you say your Beo4:
controls Light: LC2 = Does Beo5 control LC2 now?
controls SAT: Beovision 7 with DVD and soundbar = Does Beo5 control SAT now?
controls N.Radio & N.Music & CD Player: Beosound 5 and CD Player Beomaster 5 incl. Beolab8000 = Does Beo5 control N.Radio & N.Music & CD Player now?Regards

To check if the Beo5 is in deler mode go ito the Settings menu by pressing the red dot button and GO (center button) together.
You should be on the SETUP screen
call up the numbers page by pressing + on the bottom of the screen. Then press 00 GO (center button). You will see Dealer Option on screen. you need to press Normal Mode on the left and it should be red.
Hopefully this will restore the IR range,

I have to be directly on the TV so that I can operate the TV
I wonder if your Beo5 might be in “Dealer Mode” which reduces the IR range. I will give instructions how to check
Hi Andreas,
I have tried your setup on my configuration tool (CT), I attach a PDF of each step.
Good luck

(added PDF twice in error – both are the same)
I am sorry Andreas, I can’t help with BS/BM5. I think if you search on Archive Forum 2012-2022 (Link at top of forum) someone may help.
This link seems to deal with your issue

Hi Andreas,
With the configuration tool (CT), you must always choose “work offline”. The server is the B&O server that dealers connect to, to save the configurations they make. This is not available to the public this is why it is not found.
Are you confident with the CT? I can tell you how to use it from step 1.
I will open my configuration tool this evening and take a look to see if I can assist with your N.Music and other issues.
It would help to know how your BV7 and BS5 are connected. You have to be very precise when setting up the Beo5. The software needs to know how they are connected. It will ask if they are in the same room? What speakers are connected and are they connected to BV7 or to BS5? What peripherals are connected to TV (AppleTV or Sat Tuner etc) are they controlled by PUC? What inputs are they connected to?
It will also help me if I know what buttons on your Beo4 you use currently.
It is all very confusing to begin with, but does make sense eventually.

Please excuse me replying in English.
You will need to program the Beo5 using the Configuration Tool on a computer.
On the Beo5/Beo6 forum there are some posts that have links to download it.
Good luck

Once Graham has everything set up as he wants I’m hoping to help him program his BEO5 to control the setup. I can only do that once we know the connections etc.

On my very simple setup, I use the headphone socket on my LG connecting to the BS3 via a scart adapter.
But Millemesen or Tignum may be able to help if you want the surround sound to work etc.

Excellent news bkslash, thanks for letting us know.

This might help. You have to use the correct config tool depending on the firmware in your Beo5
Hi Graham60,
The only suggestion I have at this stage is photograph the current connections on the front of the BS3 and the various connections in the connections menu on the screen. That way you can get back to status quo should anything get messed up.
Is your BS3 the DVI-D OUT version or the HDMI OUT version?
Take a look at the most recent post on the Beo5/6 forum. You should be able to get your original Beo5 XML file to start trying to re program your Beo5 for the new TV. Find a friendly dealer near you and take the Beo5 in to see if they would give you the XML file. If they do, come back and we can help you with updating it.

Thank you Keith,
I thought might be the case. And I did wonder about dealers keeping local copies.

I built in a Powerlink cable system into the walls of my living room recently with home made Powerlink outlet sockets. I have a Beosystem 3 and Beosound 9000 and my 4 Beolab 3’s worked perfectly before the installation (connected directly to the BS3).
When all set up there was a hum/buzz. I couldn’t replace the inbuilt wiring but used various cables to try to get rid of it.
Eventually I bought my Beolab 12-3’s from my sunroom into the living room, and tried just the one. No hum. Plugged the Beolab 3’s back in, connected one and the hum stopped, unplugged it and it came back. So I have swapped 2 Beolab 3’s to the sun room an put the 2 Beolab 12-3’s in the living g room.
I was thinking of getting a subwoofer as the 4 Beolab 3’s didn’t really fill the room with sound. The new setup means I don’t think I need one as the bass is now more than adequate.
There must be something in the speakers that sort the hum out. Just to add to your thoughts really.
