Funny (sort of), but my BS1 join button behaves similarly. Sometimes I miss physical buttons – at least you know when they are pressed.
Maybe your silver one has a broken center button (the touch to join). You say it is not there, but as far as I can remember, all BS1s had a center button. I’m guessing it is there, but has a fault so you cannot see it.
I have not owned a Moment, but the Essence mk2 is a decent device. Not sure if it behaves differently with the ML-NL converter vs. Moment – I do recall there being something unique to the Moment with respect to BeoVision integration, but this is a vague memory from the old forum.
I still have and use my BS9000. Mostly listen to a streamer connected to it, but during the holiday season my wife loads it up with Christmas CDs. Once in a while, I will break out a CD (or 6) and enjoy the show…
I must be blind because I’m not seeing the BS9000.
However, I do see that the BL4s have no cables 🙁
Maybe B&O will finally have an earbud that has good voice call clarity.
My old dealer would give me 15% off pretty much all the time, but that might have something to do with them no longer being a dealer.
With no local dealer, I’ve never been able to get a discount by calling far away dealers (they position lack of sales tax as a “discount”). Although I’ve only ever made small purchases.
I’ve doubt that it can be disabled. ABL attenuates the bass at high volumes to protect the speakers so, if there were a way to turn it off, you’d risk damaging your drivers. Hence, many B&O speakers are known for being “screechy” at high volumes. The screech is an indication that you should probably lower the volume. Do you have a very large room or do you just enjoy music at “club” levels?
You missed the window on the BS2 mp3 player. A few years ago (2014?), they were selling for silly money in Japan or China. I recall seeing a “sold” ebay listing for ~$1000.00. Alas, I didn’t bother with trying to sell mine because it was slightly damaged, and I have misplaced the dock somewhere (at some point I started using the travel charger exclusively). Lately, I’ve seen one listed for $200, but not if it was triggering any bidding action.
According to an earlier post in this forum (search Beolink Multiroom – as I can’t seem to copy the URL), B&O Radio will be available on all connected speakers in Q2 2022. I would assume the Core counts as a connected speaker.
I have this issue with TuneIn stations disappearing, too. I’m looking forward to B&O Radio.
If you click the “products” tab on the main site (beoworld.ouronlineserver.com), there is quite a bit of historical information on many products.
I have to agree about the Edge in terms of recent products. It just seems like design got a bit too far ahead of utility. Although, I have never seen one in person so perhaps the beauty is overwhelming in person.
The original BS2 (mp3 player) was “crazy” expensive and <gasp!> no display, but I used mine regularly for many years so I guess it wasn’t that expensive in the long run.
The one product I sort of wish I had never bought was the BeoLink Wireless 1. Lots of frustration (worked great until it randomly decided not to), and then I doubled down and bought a couple used ones, and still couldn’t get them to work reliably. I’m afraid to sell them since they don’t work, and I guess I probably missed the window on selling them.
Given my closest dealer is a long day’s drive away, I doubt I will buy any more expensive B&O (>$5K). Otherwise, I buy on-line and use the generous return policy.
It used to bother me… buying something I might return, but I now justify that the returns must factor into B&O’s cost of doing business in the US. Perhaps it’s cheaper for B&O to re-sell my returned item as “open box” vs. supporting a nearby retail store. Then again, I’ve only returned 2 products since my local store closed – a gen 1 A1 as it could not reliably stereo pair with its sibling, and a Level as I preferred the BS1 I bought around the same time.
Lately, it’s been a stereo pair of Beosound A1s. At my low office listening levels, I’m finding the imaging from the stereo separation more enjoyable than the better sonic quality of my BS2. Not sure what to make of this…
