Looks like the sysmtoms you get if:

Caps are not excanged, ALL incl. the 47uF in the CPU can. Just have one on the table where the 47 uF was divided into two parts. The Beogram made quiet funny moves ;-))

Lightbulb in the Control panel not working or weak, misadjusted voltage at the light sensors (620mV) for << and >>

Fact is if you try to renew only some of the old caps nobody knows when the next will die, so please no “quick and dirty” restauration.

      look here for further information:

Here is a good example about Transistor HFE :

        Hi Alf

As the bulb is measuring about 40 Ohm it should be OK.

Check 1 R 30 (15 OHM) and all tracing connections.

About Transistors which are measuring off board in a good state….

If I pull one of these little BC5XX Transistors out I always put a new one in, cost only 5 to 20 cent and you’re shure that the new one will work.

Had already a lot of them measuring good, but a HFE about 20 or 100, too low in that case.

Hope it will help a little bit.

        Kind regards

        Christian

          Hi Bert

You mentioned the small Motor on the back, please check if the plastic gearwheel is tight fit to the motorspindle, had already two which were cracked and slipped through / did not really turn the other gearwheels completly, so the drive got stuck in some unusual state, sometimes worked sometime only fast forward and so on.

If cracked you could glue it back in place with superglue, worked fine both times.

          Kind regards

          Christian

            Hi

One thing I’d like to mention is that, if you’re cleaning the wormgear be very carefull with solvents like contact cleaner, thinner or acetone, the black coating of the chassis is not very resistant against solvents and will be solved and looking very bad….

Put some papertowels under the wormgear and exchange from time to time while cleaning.

Don’t ask me why I know this ;-))

            Regards

                  Hi BB

Hardly could remember but there was a kind of smell in a Beocenter 9500 came from Resistor R131 on Board No. 20.

The PCB was burned, scrached it all away and coated it with some Nailcoating from my wife ( be quiet don´t tell her ;-))

It´s a 22 Ohm Resistor and in my opinion the resistor should limit the Current through the Motor.

As in your case there was nothing wrong with the belt or drive, mounted a new Resistor on “higher legs” so the PCB is not blackened anymore. Mounted a new belt, Member Dillen has the right ones, don´t buy somewhere else some work some don´t, belts from Dillen working always.

                  Burnt Resistor

                  Hope you´ll have success

                  Kind regards

                  Christian

Quiet right, there were discussions about that spindle, someone had a .stl file but sadly did not share for other users, maybe I’ve not found the right thread but if there is a file downloadable or PM please let us know.

                    Thanks

                      Hi Tim

Well done so far that you could measure the signals ;-))

As you wrote that signals comming in the Hybrid IC on PIN 1 & 18, for me, there is no other possibility that the IC is in heaven.

I would buy a new one and try.

It costs about 10 € so it’s not that big invest in renewing the IC.

Thought about the muting PIN 6 but it mutes both channels (L&R) as far as I understand the Datasheet of the STK.

The B&O Service manual shows that the Muting Switch is tied to GND, the Muting comes via the Preamp section.

                      Hope you’re lucky!

                      Kind Regards

                        Hi Tim

The problem should not relate to the EEprom or the CMOS battery, in my opinion, so better leave it as it is.

When the Beomaster comes on with a “CODE” in the display, the FM stations and soundsettings are not stored anymore the battery has to be renewed.

No sound on one channel on both speaker outlets is quiet uncommon, often the speaker relais fails. But the outlet “2” is connected directly to the poweramp section.

The Headphone is connected to the poweramp section too.

If you have a powerlink connected speaker you could check if these are running on both channels.

Switch speakers to INPUT L and INPUT R

If there is sound on both speakers (R&L) you have a problem behind the tonecontrol and preamp section in direction of the power amp section.

If one speaker fails on the powerlink outputs too there is a error in the preamp section.

Check this first and let us know what goes and what not.

The panels can be cleaned with this stuff:

                        https://www.obi.de/reinigungsmittel-pflegemittel/mellerud-aufkleber-und-kleberesteentferner-0-25-l/p/1287176?wt_mc=gs.pla.Wohnen.Haushalt.Reinigung&wt_cc1=664716676&wt_cc4=c&wt_cc9=37739993710&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyYfcttbA-AIVYRoGAB2WnwBMEAQYAiABEgK2PfD_BwE

I’ve made good experience and the old glue comes off in one go, please use only a creditcard or a spade of plastic, never use scraping metall spades or knifes, you will destroy the black coating.

After use clean with a household windowcleaner, no acetone or thinner your coating will be lost ;-))

For reglueing I use this double sided tape which is a little bit foamy but very sticky:

Be careful if it sticks to the glass it’s hard to get it of again, so look twice which plastic frame belongs to it’s place and align the gaps of the middle part.

I would never use 2 K Epoxy because you won’t get of the plastic frames from the glass even the glas is broken.

                        BTW

I’m not familar with the offers I linked here and get no money for comercial !

                        Kind regards

Nearly forgot to mention, had trouble with my BS 9000, IR was kompletely dead, not the funny “Option 1 ” konfiguration.

Read on the net about failing IR reciever where someone renewed a Cap on the IR board.

If you are a little bit handy and got a solder iron you could manage it by yourself.

                          Here´s the link I found:

                            Hi

Don’t know exactly what voltage shoud be on the motor, but most times the rubber belt of the geardrive is worn.

try to HELP the glassplate by hand (DO NOT FORCE just help) and look what’s happening.

How is the unit mounted? Horizontal wallmount?

                            Let us know…

                              Hi

About 1/2 hour is quiet a long time…

Does the Beosound react normal to operation with the pushbuttons on the unit itself in the first minutes?

Had quiet some strange behaviour when the glasplate is not mounted or the small IR detection parts (small triangle plexiglas) and the glasplate are not clean.

Clean the glasplate from outside AND inside and clean the small plexiglas parts, maybe you’re lucky.

                              Sounds strange but….

If you got the right belts and renewed / cleaned all the Idler Rubbers even the small ones inside the mechanism as chartz mentioned there is a mistake which I made for myself, I took just only one cassette for testing which did’t work, took another and everything was fine.

Are the transport wheels which grab into the cassette running free? Common problem is sized lubrication on the spindles.

Have a closer look for the breakarms, one grabs inside the transport wheel, easy to mount wrong 😉 don’t ask me why I know this.

If all is done and still no progress you could change one wheel after the other from your working unit to determine which part is causing the failure.

                                    Regards

                                      Hi Mick

Take a hairdryer or a heatgun (not on full power) warm the topplate on one corner and rip it off with a tonge part for part as you heat it up.

be careful, the glue is very strong and you can cut yourself on the shrp aliminium edges or hit yourself with the tonge if you slip of the aluminium.

Clean all glue rests of and get a sheet of brushed aluminium, cut it to size and glue back in place.

                                      For me it worked well.

                                      Regards

                                        Moin Eckhard

                                        Christian

                                          Hi Josh

Two places where to get would be the “Beoparts” shop. If not listed online feel free to ask via Mail.

                                          Same for ” kosetrading.com ”

I’m not family member of both shops and don’t get any money for advertising.

                                          Kind regards

                                          Christian

                                            Hi

Try to reset the RAM ( all FM Stations will be deleted, sound options will be set to zero) with the “TESTMODE” function.

How to get this testmode and reset RAM is discribed in the service manual chapter 7-10.

For me it helped quiet often if the behavior of the Beocenter is somekind “abnormal”

Let us know if you got success

                                            Regards

                                            Christian
