Nice little speaker. It seems that the ‘Bang & Olufsen’ logo is lit when turned on. Like it!
Could it be a render error? In any event, I would hope that in configuration this could be disabled. Call me a fossil, if you will, but I loved the old green light/red light signifiers.
“Beolab 8’s beam width control lets you switch seamlessly between two listening experiences. Narrow down with precision audio channelled directly to you. Or go wide and diffuse sound throughout your space. Which mode is it in? The LEDs on the front will enlighten you.”
So it’s not a rendering error and I 100% doubt you can turn off the lights as it’s a UX feature.
So how will the touch panels on the BL8 work if it is hooked up to a system like the theatre. Will hitting PLAY cause the whole 5.1 system to play (hopefully) or will the 2 BL8 speakers just play independently (God I hope not)?
I would do it yourself with help from them or a friend.
Where is the woofer in this? Is it inside firing up?
Beolab 8 does more than adapt to your room. It adapts to you. Using ultra- wideband technology, it directs the acoustic sweetspot to wherever you are. As long as your phone is on you, the sound is too. No need to readjust your speaker, or your room. *Fluid Sweet Spot only works when using Beolab 8 in a stereo setup with Apple iPhone (Apple iPhone 11 or newer).
This sounds very impressive.
Ive noticed that any beta or official Firmware updates for the Theatre have really dried up recently. I mean B&O was pretty slow from the start almost a year ago but Im a bit disappointed as both the app features / UI and firmware really need some improvements.
I have several essence mrk2ls and they all work perfectly with b&O radio and airplay.
I have mark 2 A9 and it works just fine on my mesh.
Not sure what you’re really asking? Your A9 doesn’t work on your mesh WiFi network?
Be careful with Cat6 cables. I used some and it caused buzz’s and clicks. You should really use Shielded cat 7 cables to be safe.
My recently acquired BS9000 to go with my BL4000’s and B&W sub.
All hooked up to an essence that broadcasts to all my other B&O all over my loft.
Just got the stand from fellow Beoworlder 🙂
I have the same setup and I used this product for years with the 17’s, turntable and sub-woofer hooked up and it all worked perfectly.

You’re saying you’ve read the instructions and have no idea on how to add 6000’s as side channels? What would be your best guess based on what you read?
But I would not for one minute think that B&O don’t know what they are doing power-management wise.
My A2 was rated at 24 hours playback and always lasted under 2 hours. My Halo remote does nothing all day and last 48 hours. My Beoremote 1 is hardly used and the battery lasts a month. I absolutely think B&O doesn’t know what they are doing power management wise.
Has anyone been able to compare the sound of the A5 with the sound of the Level? That would be an interesting comparison…

Level sounds better, A5 has more bass.
For the 90th they just released some key speakers in rose gold which were actually really nice.
Um I don’t know what bluetooth really has to do with the battery? But anyway, I bought a Marshal speaker for half the price of the A2 and it sounds ALMOST as good but the battery lasts a full 20 hours on bluetooth no matter the volume.
My collection includes:
Beosound Theatre
Beolab 18’s (Theatre front L/R)
Beolab 4000 connected to Beosound 9000
Beolab 3 (Theatre rear L/R)
Beolab 17 (Connected to essence and turntable)
A9
My cats not terribly impressed with it though 😀
The battery life concerns me at “12 hours at moderate listening levels” is a very relative term. I HAD an A2 which was rated at “24 hours at moderate listening levels” but since I used it at 80% or higher volume (which wasn’t very loud) the battery lasted 1.5-2 hours. It was so useless on the beach or out of the house I had to sell it.
ive had the beta from the start and I don’t see any bugs that it has that are worse than the non-beta version.
