With a DTS encoded disc, surely can we not just get the disc player to output PCM to a Theatre?

I might be missing something, but I thought it was just a matter of choosing which device in your chain does the decode/ unpack of the source signal. So whether the player does, and sends out PCM, or alternatively it sends bitstream (i.e no decoded) onwards should not really make any / much difference.

Obviously with a Theatre not doing DTS-X, one would need to get the media / disc player to do the job and just send out PCM.

      Or am I missing something?

@BeoMedia……Dont believe so – the only way of achieving your scenario is (and forgive me, I dont know what other speakers you have in the same room) is to directly connect a music source to your (lest say) front left and rights.

I have a music source direct (via RCA) to my BL50s (which are also powelink connected to my BV)….in that way I can keep the BV screen on (let’s say with some sport on), switch it to a centre only speaker group (muted or low vol, up to you), and then the 50s are free to play music when I trigger my music source.

So this kind of thing is do-able, provided you have speakers with power-link and some other connection options, and you have a separate music source connected that way,

While I dont know the answer, Christian is quite often on Discord, and reasonably forthcoming.

You could try asking him your questions there, you pretty likely to get an answer there.

oh definitely agree – though in this case, my dealer knows his stuff very well, set up their listening room himself etc, and is not just a salesman.

But it’s a new product, so who knows. He did carefully describe the above *no duplication behaviour to me. Whether thats changed somewhat in beta, one can only speculate….

That does sound a little odd to me, and not what my dealer explained to me.

He has a listening room with height / ceiling speakers with his Theatre setup – and he was quite clear that if there are specific external speakers allocated a particular role, then the Theatre speakers with the same role would be disabled i.e no duplication.

Whether something has changed, or whether there is a difference between normal and beta software, I dont know.

But the above is how he explained things (using his setup as an example) to me.

not my setup, but I think the 19 works fine with the Theatre now.

Mike, the podcast chief, has added one to his Theatre setup and is not reporting any issues now.

I dont exactly remember, but perhaps ask him the question on Discord – its the B&O and Beotalk server. There is no podcast for a few weeks, but he’s on Discord most days.

indeed, and I’ve looked that video many times to get some idea.

The one difference in my situation is that the wiring will pop out from a hole in the wall – and effectively emerge behind the Theatre, So as long as we get the hole positioned correctly, the Theatre should be able to be pushed back flush to the wall.

Some precision required – but I’ve got the a-team on the case (or so I trust!).

Indeed, the G2 wall mount does pull out just about enough to access any cables.

It’s more the Theatre, which I’m having wall mounted separately, that I need to be flush against the wall. In this situation, and all the cabling I have going into it, it will be slightly challenging to the installers. But I’ll be surprised if they dont get it right.

My dealer has one wall mounted, and looking at his install, they used 2 narrow cable socks feeding into the Theatre, and each with about 3 or 4 cables. And their install is clean and flush against the wall. I have a tad more cable traffic in / out of the back of my upcoming install, so we’ll see. But I’m assured it will be fine, and they need to get it right.

I think the issue is that the LG C/G 9 does not have the same integration as the X one onwards.

my Theatres are being installed in 3 weeks time, both wall mounted.

The installers have a lot of wiring going into the back of my living room theatre – lord knows how they’ll make the whole thing perfectly flush to the wall!

                                Gaps will not be tolerated!

Congrats by the way, and enjoy.

Which of your list dont work properly or as you would like?

My Theatre installation is not for a few weeks yet, but I understand that its the later LG panels onwards that completely integrate – I think from CX onwards, though the missing bits of integration I’m not familiar with. Mike, who runs the Beotalk podcast had a C9 but changed it for a C2 when he got his Theatre, and one of the reasons was the not quiet complete integration.

As for programming the BR1, that is not an option I’m pretty sure.

I’d add that (apologies if you know this already), that the Halo is poor / doesn’t really do music browsing / search. Thats possibly one part of why the more vocal users of the Halo take advantage of its usefulness as a home automation interface (i.e with a BeoLiving Intelligence hub).

I dont think the Halo is going anywhere for quite a while.

i.e it will remain as one of they key control options for a long time yet.y And I suspect more updates will come.

(I dont have one, it doesn’t suit me personally)

It does seem more useful for those with home automation, where the Halo then becomes more than just a quirky volume control / source selector.

@Sandyb: A few minutes of playing with it at your dealer’s store or even bringing one home and promptly returning it is not at all the same as owning one, living with it, and getting a true feel for its usefulness It just gets old that whenever the Halo gets mentioned the same Halo Haters show up trolling when they have no true experience with using it. We get it — you don’t like it. Then just don’t buy one. Problem solved!

It doesn’t do browsing – and hence isn’t the device that suits me. Spending 20 hours with it wouldn’t change that conclusion. And there isn’t a problem, given that I didnt buy one, and it really doesn’t keep me up at night.

Was merely reflecting to the OP that it many see it as a bit too limited given the price, though those who use BLI’s certainly get a lot more out of it. As a summation, few would regard that as unfair, let alone trolling or hater-ism.

                                            Really, thats pretty weak.

I’ve played with one a few times at my dealer.

It doesn’t do what I want for music. I dont need to own one to know that.

I can also see that when they added the BLI integration, that added some genuine additional usage and interest. Again, I dont need to own one to know that.

Even my dealer gets a bit shoulder shrug-y when it comes to the Halo, reflecting perhaps the OP’s comment, of it not getting a huge amount of thread discussion.
