Since the sw version of the LG tv has/can have an effect on the daily use of our BST’s….has anyone installed the new tv sw (was announced yesterday in my case)?
Not many detail there!
By the way – I have auto update disabled, but the tv announces the new sw every time I turn on the tv (untill now I klicked ‘no’).
But can you avoid this, if you want to stay on the current and only do a manual search, if you want to?MM
Seeems that only people with PUC’ed devices have the issues, or?
MM
The system works fine but I can’t integrate it with my link NL/ML system. Have heard that a sw update should allow for that.
You will not be able to ‘integrate’ it with other NL devices.
What you mean is probably to ‘connect’ it to…
……in order to start a source directly from the BST.This – sadly – is not yet possible (how long will it take ?)
But you can ‘expand’ from another device – this is what I do when I listen to CD’s from the 6500 system->NL/NL Converter.
I start playback manually and can then listen on the BST.MM
It would be nice to know, if those who solely use the apps of the LG and have no external devices, ever have experienced the ‘shut down issue’.
Yes, I know – I was also adviced (by the support in DK) to use the blockers.
MM
Since this ‘issue’ seems to be highly dependent on your BST configuration/setup, it always helps to know what people have, when posting about this.
In my case with Theatre and 4 speakers + two subs and 3 devices connected/2 of these puc’ed all to the Theatre (I only use the tuner of the LG, no apps), it mostly happens, when I change between the sources (ATV, Blu Ray player, Chromecast Ultra dongle)….at least so it seems (???)…..
…..that is my current ‘theory’.In the last 5-6 days we have only used the ATV and there has been no issues.
No issues with pure audio playback from the BST.
BST and LG are updated to the latest sw.I will report back, what happens, when I play from Blu Ray and go back to ATV etc etc in everyday use.
I have two CEC blockers laying around ready for use, but as long as there are no problems, I’ll wait.
Maybe it is fixed!?
MM
Is there a way yet to rearrange listening positions for the theatre?
Not that I know of!
But that would be nice, so…..MM
I am considering adding an Encore (don’t want the BM5) to feed into one of my BLCs)
——————
First of all……..you guys are awsome – it’s been a joy (and inspiration) to follow this thread ?
’….feed an Encore into a BLC’ – that sounds like an interesting project, since the Encore has no ML or alike ?

Hi MM, hi Carolpa, I was already assuming (edit: counting on the fact) that I cannot control the BS5e through BeoLink. My aim will be to play it through a Line-in of a BLC (using A.AUX to listen to it in any of the rooms), control the content by hand (option 0). Carolpa, you confirm my thought to use the PowerLink socket for that.
I think the BS5/BM5 is very classic cool, but I am hesitant to put another big, fan-cooled box somewhere. The BS5e looks just as cool, and I hope the directly accessible nature of it will make my user experience better than I like the app/core. The downside is the low/no level of control. But hey, maybe I should see walking to my BS5e similarly romantic as flipping a record! Both haptic experiences. Keep you posted!
The BS5 Encore was meant to be a standalone unit…..
….or – as the name says – as a companion to the BS/M5, drawing on the files in the BM5.
You could have one BS/M5 and several Encores around the house.
This was made possible at some point in the evolution of the BM5……they added a DLNA server to the operation system.Of course you can do as you (and Corolpa) suggests – that is also what Steve (SoundsHeavenly) proposes all the time as ‘integration light’.
And this can work well – but without the ‘integration’ that a NL/ML Converter can offer.
By the way, if you put the Encore into Option 4 and use The Beo4 with a Link command (before the actual command), you can remote control it without interfering with other ir-devices in the room.
You can even – with a newer Beo4 version, that can be set to Link Mode – use the remote pretty ‘normal’ (this is nice if you want to improve the WAF).Also you have an option of connecting something – could be a turntable or an Airplay or Spotify Connect device – to the line-in port on the Encore.
Several BS/M5 users have managed to merge the system to an SSD drive, making the BM5 much faster.
If someone really wants to integrate the Beosound 5 to the setup (with ML and NL), the BS/S5 is the way to go.P.S.
I have never heard a fan in the BM5 and the box can be hidden away.MM
Sure, that will work…..has been done with different devices several times.
That is pretty easy! But I did not understand that that was meant.
’Adding’ something/the Encore to a BLC should also mean being able to use and control the individual sources (of the Encore) within the NL/ML setup.

@Mikipedia is one of the few people with many speakers fulfilling several roles. @Sandyb has just the two speakers and the Theatre. Speculation: Perhaps when switching listening positions, the Theatre cycles thru each speaker, powering it up — and instead of accumulating/max-ing the wait times of all speakers before their amplifiers click on, it performs the delay per speaker (or pair) serially? After moving, when he sets it up again, maybe @Mikipedia can try with only one pair of external speakers…
—————
This – in my case – can’t be the reason.
As I wrote:
‘returning from a multi speaker ‘group’ to the BST alone – it takes up to 7 seconds to get sound.
The other way ‘round sound is immediately there’.P.S.
I have 7 LP’s with 6 wired speakers (and the BST).
MM
The only issue I have (BL90 plus 3pairs of BL3s) is the boot time for the 90s to click online and to form the latency. probably 2-3 seconds max
That is pretty normal, I guess.
MM
Probably because you can ask Google to wake you up ?
MM
Det eneste du skal bruge er en adapter fra RJ45 til hun-DIN Powerlink, hvor du så sætter dine eksisterende kabler i.
You will need a RJ45/PL to 8pin DIN/PL adapter.
MM
The Playmaker is imo an overlooked device!
However, if you are able to….please run that with a wired ethernet connection to your router.
They should be cheap – but maybe hard to find…..depending on your location.

My BST was updated a couple of days ago (the SW was pushed).
As of today – when opening the app – I was told the it had been regularly/automatic updated……to the same version ?
Anyway…..this time the new features/news were stated in the app (I made a screenshop just in case that could not be found again later on).
Only the new features are listed – no talk of bug fixes.I can’t say whether the issue with the tiny sound from tv (tuner in LG) was fixed, since I generally do not use the BST on it’s own.
I made a test playing from tv with only BST – that sounded ok to me.
I guess testing on an only BST setup and with the new SW will be needed (@Sandyb).This is how it looks in my case, when playing from the LG tuner/DVB-T.
This might be different for other users.By the way…….changing from eARC to ARC in the LG settings made a difference in the perceived sound on the Theatre alone.
Since I only use the tuner of the LG and no apps, I have mine in the ARC setting now.
Would be nice to hear about this from others.P.S. After the update I have a ‘new issue’.
Testing around I noticed that – when returning from a multi speaker ‘group’ to the BST alone – it takes up to 7 seconds to get sound.
The other way ‘round sound is immediately there.
Not a problem in our daily use cases, but weird anyway. Also – just in case you experience this – I had crackling noices from the BST after updating.
A reboot (through the app) solved this.MM
The biggest difference between the two is the missing support for NL/Beolink Multiroom with the MK1.
I would be nice, it someone with daily use of the MK1 could state, whether it still supports TuneIn (I assume it does, but it needs to be verified).
It will surely not be updated to B&O Radio. Also the support for Spotify Connect could be important (at least for some users).
Whether it supports AP2, I do not know. For a simple standalone use regular AP in the MK1 or the Playmaker will be ok – in case someone relies on AP2 for multiroom, the AirPort Express would be the better choice.
If you are looking towards integrating with further newer B&O devices the MK2 should be your choice.I am pretty sure that there is no CC support anymore on the MK1 – (this also seems to be the case with the MK2).
It will be easier to connect the BL9’s with the MK1/2 than with the APE. Also the Playmaker is better for this.
If you need remote controlling/Beo4, the Playmaker works out of the box.
The MK1/2 both need an attached ir-eye for this – alternatively you can use the Essence Remote.
With the APE you in any case will have to rely on the volume control of the app/the device from where you are airplaying.
This can imo be a bit fiddly – it is not very sensitive/precise for a set of BL9’s.There is (kind of) support in the B&O app for the Playmaker – I’d guess for the MK1 too (?).
Full support for the MK2.Would be nice if someone else could chime in here with the actual features of the MK1 as of today.
In case the MK1 still support TuneIn, if one needs that and likewise Spotify Connect, the MK1 – with an ir-eye/Beo4 or the Essence Remote – could be fine choice for a standalone setup with the BL9’s.

In case you haven’t seen this….
The BM3300 has the amp built-in.
So all you need is to connect the Rogers to the Beomaster Speaker 1 output.
For this you will need 2 x 2-pin DIN plugs like these:MM
