Thank you Wilderwein for your kind and peaceful answer.

It turns out that I’ve heard about member status not being updated because it is a manual process that sometimes may fail. Anyway, I suggest you to contact Keith Saunders and it will sort this out.

About the price, I can’t really help. In my country B&O stuff have stupid second hand prices.
But I also understand that people sometimes need to make money and are not responsible for the market value.

It’s up to you, I can’t help there.

        Hi Wilderwein,

Welcome to Beoworld. The rule here is that Bronze members are not allowed to post sales/wanted add. It is still possible for technical reasons and no moderators will remove your post. That said, if you ever sell your cartridge through the forum, please consider a donation to the forum since it is currently under financial difficulties.

In the meantime you’re gonna endure a little bit of “brainwashing” from me. As Alan parson would sing: “that’s the price to pay…”

Whatever prices eBay have, 600 or even 400€ for a MMC20S is crazy. Even for a cardboard box fetishist like me this is too much by far. You could find refurbished MMC20E for close to half that price.

And that leads me to another point: a Cartridge, be it NOS, or never open ro brand new never used, etc has still aged and the suspension may be from dry-ish to rock hard, making it less compliant that it was designed to be or even, useless.

A lot of people isn’t aware from that or doesn’t care. Here we mostly all do.

Shooting from the hip, here is my view-point: –

Everybody should think twice when he daily drives a Dacia and he quotes a guy who drives a beautiful Aston Martin…

Nevertheless Mr 10 Percent has said every little bit of what I would want to say but better than I would do.

One thing only on your/his first point about moderation: as a freshman moderator I do know that some of the more delicate point are always a big talk between moderators to find the best compromise. The ‘incident’ you talk about hasn’t leaded to any post moderation or deletion after we talk between us and agreed on what yourself conclude: if it’s on Beoworld it is already somewhere else. I can’t remember, but maybe I’m just not aware of it, content being deleted because it was to early disclosing. That said, I aisles agree on the fact that Beoworld is not the place to know about future products or rumors or Beogossip.

We, here in France are wondering if this this not the end of the fifth republic, a system that has ruled us for years but may not work anymore… I wonder if Beoworld is not, the same way, at the end of an (good willing) era and make some (common monetizing) compromises to keep the knowledge alive.

            Thank you Mr10%

              Hi and welcome to Beoworld,

You should start by downloading the service manual from that model or a similar one (most Beogram have many variations and sometimes diagrams can apply to different models). If you plan to repair/retore the deck, the service manual will be a great help.

What I would also do is to do a google image search: there is plenty of beogram guts pictures around and they are often very helpful when it comes to put back a lose component.

Good luck and congratulation for your find.

May it be a need for multi-room setups up there.
I had a little “silent friction” with him when he repost a photoshop picture of a Wall mounted Beovision Harmony that looked like an Ikea foldable side table I did without crediting me.
Appart from that I believe his drawings are still constantly looked for by guys like me, Guy, Madskp and many others…

                Thanks MM.

I’d like to know many of you before having to read your life on Beoworld because you’re not there anymore.

The B&O setup iPad App is useless: it don’t add no or out any feature at all.

The only thing that happens when you dock an iPad to the A3 is a specific speaker adjustment for voice or music that appears in the settings section.
This appears whether the app is installed or not.

C’mon Guys, I’m screaming this since forever: prices here in France are ridiculous!

You’ve seen a Beogram 4000 for 580£, really? I can show you 4002s at more than 1000 € with a little note “the tip shall be replaced cheap and easy to find”. I even saw one once sold for 800€ with the main plate (the one where the platter sits and not the ones on the right) painted in turquoise blue!

Anything that holds the B&O logo is sold for money only, Beolink converter @100, Beocom @600, Any Beogram is above 200€, LC2 @100, Playmakers no less than 80-120, etc…

Only common Beolabs seems to follow the market prices even if 3500, 2000 are mistakenly sold as standalone speakers at stupid prices.

And don’t even dare to call the seller to tell the item is not fairly priced!

Sometimes you can find good prices, bargains, even gifts to give away. Yes it happens and most of the time from owners who have enjoyed their things but don’t anymore. But too often people don’t even know what they’re selling, they just know that “B&O is an expensive brand”.

                    Sad…

                      Hi Tuttivini,

They are stunning! I’m close to ashamed of the rendering of mine now!

The hardwood gives really a different look and is definitely an improvement.
As are the rounded slats. All in all these “details” make them closer to the Beolab 18 and less “its-just-a-wood-grill-on-90’s-speakers”. Congratulation and thank you for pushing the idea further away.

I didn’t realize before, but now I recognize you: I remember when you first posted your living room in the old forum “flash your B&O”. I really liked the fireplace and the whole setup in general, simple, clean, wires concealed. It’s an honor to be from very far away, a little bit part of it.

For all the other members, could you specify if these are 4 or 5 mm wood bars?

                      Thank you.

From google pictures there is at least the dark wood version with black top and bottom plate and the coarse beige fabric version with white top and bottom plate and a oak wood handle.

                          Hi alls, me again,

Thanks to member ebnrob, I was able to activate the iTunes remote app to remotely control iTunes from any iPad or iPhone.

So I can now confirm that the setup works in distribution mode (DM) with full control from an iPhone (a 3Gs to keep up with the youngtimer mood!) or an iPad (1).

A.MEM is configured as “iTunes (external)”.
Browsing, selecting tracks or albums is made through the iTunes remote app (IRA) interface.
Beolab volume control is through the Beo4 but you can adjust the iTunes volume on IRA.

Beo4 STANBY key do standby the system and stop iTunes playback.
When calling any source from Beo4 to wake it up, it will play the track that the system was playing when you stopped it: radio or song.

Selecting RADIO while playing an album track do switch to radio mode and play the radio streams set in iTunes.

Selecting A.MEM while playing a radio track do switch to album mode and play the last album played.

The Beoremote also start and stop de iTunes.

Of course album browsing is not possible from the beoremote (only possible if A.MEM is mapped MUSIC, that is when LM plays the tracks directly, but then you browse in the blind with no direct access to a specific album).

But track browsing within the same album is possible with the Beoremote and reflected in IRA.

Still a pity track names are not displayed on the Beolab 3500.

No, thank you to you ebnrob,

I’ve just tried to enable iTunes remote again and it did work.

I’m sorry I can give the accurate procedure because I did it just like that, without making screen caps. But it’s an obvious path if you’re not distracted by the feeling Apple gives you it’s not supported anymore. Look in the corners, launch the iTunes remote app on your phone and add a new library from there. It will work, period!

Now I need to dig out my Beoport and the 3500 to see how it works all together.
Any useful find will be reported in the Mac/Beoport thread.

                            Ebnrob, thanks again!

Thank you ebnrob. I’ll try this and will report.

Ive set the mac to auto-login at boot, just need to figure out a way to load itunes at login next.

Go to General Preference>User and groups and select your main account. Then in the “opening” tab add iTunes. (Names may differ a little sine I use a French OS but you should find your way.

Annoyingly though the mac is forgetting the time after being powered off.

Thats an usual behavior on a laptop when the battery is dead but I never experienced it on a desktop machine. Nevertheless the battery is a CR2032 and can be replaced. But opening those minis is a pain.

The screen capture and measurement from styppen are right.

It’s the “bounding box” size of the whole object.

For whatever reason my export do not carry scale information and you have to scale it depending on your printer device. But it should usually be a round factor: x10, x100, x1000.

Anyway, give your supplier the bounding box size and it should work.

The Mac is running Itunes 10.6 with BM-Link […]. I also installed the itunes remote app on my iphone 13 and that worked too for controlling iTunes! I was not expecting that.

Thats interesting because last time I tried, home sharing support was not supported anymore in Snow Leopard for security reasons. That was then the missing experiment in may research on BL3500, Mac-mini and iTunes integration.

So could you please elaborate on your setup, settings and software version.

Side note: funny how people dig out more and more old hardware to play with it !

                                          As far as I know…

Essence MK1 is today, more or less, no more than a Playmaker without IR, that is an Airport Express with additional auto sense line-in along. I can’t comment on DAC as I’ve not experiment any audio improvement myself.

Essence MK2 will be more like a Beosound Core ancestor, that is a box with it’s own sources like tune-in and NL.

There is a lot of literature on BW2 about pushing Essence MK1 to its limits but I doubt it would be a reliable solution in time. And the price tag between MK1 and MK2 is still important.

Being an Airplay user, I would buy an Essence MK1 only as a Playmaker alternative and only if cost is similar to a deprecated Airport Express box, that is around 40-50 €/$/£.

In your case, either a Playmaker, a MK1 or even an Apple AE would suit your needs, given that as I do you can’t sense the difference in DAC if there is any.

At first they were meant to be a cradle to hold the sticks with a drop of glue.

But in the end the sticks did click in and stay firmly in place without glue.

The groove is not deep to stay invisible between the lamellas.
