I know. Just saying that “at glance” it’s an obvious difference, as much as the leds from the 8002 are.

I dont know Beverly Sills Bellini and Donizetti Heroines but I would start with a record of no value, You don’t know what could happen and before checking the sound you want to be sure the mechanics works correctly.

I think that early models have a “cup” woofer and later a “dome” woofer. I believe the “dome” woofer is more bassy. Where is the split? I don’t know.

Maybe you should start by the start: Put a record on your table and see what happen.

If the platter spins and the arm lowers where it should, you’re not that bad.

Then check for sound and if it sounds, check for speed consistency.

From there you’ll be able to gauge how much service you deck needs.

Maybe it can make you happy with just a new belt and a new cartridge.

I’ve two of them and both just needed no more than a little care. Eventually they will need more to spin for 20 years more but for now they work well.

In all case, your deck will be in good hands on Beolover workbench.

To my knowledge there is no actual “Update” in components. I mean is your purpose is to use your deck as you used it when new, the changes are more “service” than “upgrade”: replacement of ageing components, belts, pulley I think and the plinth (of no use for you as yours looks good) and the lid. All this can be done by yourself if you’re a little handy and with the help of this forum and other internet help that is plenty.

B&O also change the wires and add an RIAA preamp. It does not add streaming capabilty by itself, it just provide a line level output that allows the deck to be connected to line-in/aux-in of beosound devices like Balance or Core that will then allow distribution via Network Link.

In a nutshell, all mechanics and electronics are more or less easily serviceable. To me, not really worth the amount B&O ask for (but it is the price of tranquility for B&O client that can afford it).

What remains is and always will be, the cartridge. The starting point.

It’s not about the brackets, it’s about the lamellas. They are rounded and must be L shaped at the top. I think they’re also very thin (not deep). All this to say that this solution involves a lot of woodwork and is certainly not 50€. But indeed the result has nothing to compare with my cheap solution.

If you still need to connect airplay/cromecast as you mention in your first post you could always try if the 1611 coverter will give you an extra input or two

The Beosound Ouverture in the cabinet as since then be replaced by a Playmaker for streaming, including radios. It drives the BL8000 but also a Beolink Passive and a pair of C40 in the back. The Ouverture you see in the pictures is just there for when/if I need to listen to a tape or a CD. And also because I have no other place to store it!

The 5mm model was developed by another member from my design, to fit local wood supply so I can’t really say. Nevertheless, there is indeed a strong link between curve, depth, wide, number of lamellas and their thickness, so it make sense the curve is more important.

And yes it will result in a less thinner speaker. To what extend ? I dont know.

                            Congratulations too.

First thing to try would be the 5v trick on the MCL port. Once Again, they guy on reddit swear it works but we have yet to see!

The 4mm clamps are designed for 4mm thick wood bits.

The 5mm clamps are designed for 5mm thick wood bits easier to find in nothern countries it seems.

                                1-No

2-What do you mean by “power has been removed”? If you mean unplugged from mains, yes it revert to some sort of default setting. If you mean “just turned off” the setting should be remembered.

3-I don’t know but normally it should at least toggle between track number, time elapsed AND disc name if the disc has been named.

4-I dont know again. I think the power switch was about some sort of european regulation or a thing like that.

                                Cheers.

Unfortunately I don’t have an ML-equipped BeoSound or Ouverture to test it with!

                                      Ahahahahahaha (sadistic evil laugh…)

Yes, you have a lot of fancy beocom triangles under table remotes, BUT YOU DON’T HAVE A ML EQUIPPED BEOSOUND!

                                      Guess what? I DO!

There’s a justice on this world!

                                      Et toc!

Bonjour Pierre and Welcome to Beoworld,

Thank you for taking time for posting again despite the issues you had with your fist attempt.

The rocker twisted arm was indeed an old story and the first suspect when the sledge is scratching, until someone advised that it can’t be bent so easily and started to look more at the damper.

Parts being if not rare, often difficult to find at your local dealer (in France at least) the shrinking tube is welcome. Please let us now how it turns aft some week of use.
