I should mention that I have a historically long record of purchasing products right before they are updated! I remember buying my prized LaserDisc player and in a week or two the new model came out. I have no idea when the new Stage may come out, the A9 and BeoSound 2 were just refreshed so who knows. Whatever happens I will still love my Gen 1 BeoSound 2 and the two Stages. They are all providing an incredible amount of enjoyment so they were all good purchases.

I purchased 2 Stage’s around Christmas and they are very nice indeed! I absolutely love the sound when listening to music. B&O doesn’t reveal their roadmap for their products for obvious reasons and there probably is a Mk II sometime in the future. I wouldn’t count on the ability to add additional speakers, if it does then expect the price to reflect that.

I expect the current generation of the Stage to have a healthy life. I’m sure the CPU is suffieient for what it has to do. If in the future, hopefully 10+ years, it does become out of date I wouldn’t feel bad to have to buy the current model.

I can confirm on mine that you should not see any silver of the usb plug. The white sleeve goes all the way to the power supply.

I had a similar issue with one of my Emerge. It turned out that the USB cable on the power supply wasn’t in all the way. It initially felt that way but it needed an extra push. Since you tried swapping out the cable this probably isn’t the issue, but it’s worth a check.

                Morten,

Thank you for the information on LC3plus. It definately sounds like I want that option enabled.

This is pretty new to me. I see under Product settings -> Audio Quality you can choose between Uncompressed and High quality compression which utilized LC3plus. Currently I have Uncompressed selected because my music library is uncompressed lossless. If I experience dropouts I can try the other option.

Where do you see where LC3plus was recently updated? I don’t see it listed under About.

                    Stan,

Thank you for the information. It definately doesn’t sound like a wi-fi connectivity issue since you have your Balances hardwired. It sounds like it could be a LC3plus codec issue, so that may be a 3rd-party software update that would need to happen. I shouldn’t count on 2.5.3 to resolve this issue for me, but I haven’t experienced it yet.

That had to be a nightmare for B&O software-wise. They could control all the features of non-GVA devices but had to rely on Google for many of the features of the GVA devices. Of course the customer would complain to B&O if some Google feature didn’t work properly.

I never bought the GVA version of a device.

I guess the design isn’t for everyone. I’ve never had a wifi router that looks like it so I don’t make that association.

There was a software update for the Emerge and Level today. I was able to go over my friends house and listen to her Level pair for a good while. I did not hear any dropouts. I am still amazed how good a stereo pair of the Levels are. They sound fantastic!

Stan, what the Level’s provide for you is options for the future. There may be a need in the future where the Level’s would fit the environment even better than your office, and then you can reconsider the needs of your office and see if the Emerge is a good fit. That’s what’s nice about these music systems, they can easily be relocated as the needs change. My friend’s Level’s have changed locations 3 times, most recently because a Beosound Stage was a better fit for the room. In the mean time the Levels are a joy to listen to!

Oh, and make sure your time zone (Location) is correct. One time after resetting my Beosound 2 I forgot to set the time zone and woke up 6 hours early!

                            It’s under Settings -> Country

I haven’t quite figured out what makes the Emerge an exciting product for me. It is very elegant looking and doesn’t really make its presence known. When the Level’s first came out I bought a friend a stereo pair and they do sound fantastic, but I couldn’t see having a pair of Level’s in my bedroom. The Beosound Emerge is quite a remarkable speaker and I hope they do well.

I just updated them to 2.5.3 so I will have to see what that update brings any Airplay improvements for me.

I have the original Beosound 2 so I don’t know about the next iteration. I remember it took a little while for the Mozart products to get the alarm. I don’t use GVA but would that have an alarm function? I don’t know why B&O wouldn’t include it across the board.

That was the original way to configure the Beosound 2 or any other ASE system. This was before the B&O app came out. You would access the configuration page through a web browser with the URL similar to:

                                  http://beosound-2-26000000.local./index.fcgi

where 26000000 would be the serial number of the unit.

It still works, but it is easier to get to it now through tbe B&O app with Product settings -> Configure

The Beolab 18’s can be connected to a source via wires (a powerlink cable) or wirelessly if the source has a wireless transmitter. Unfortunately the Core only has wired connectivity since it does not include a wireless transmitter. If a new version of the Core comes out with a wireless transmitter you would be able to run the Beolab 18’s wirelessly. Currently only the Beosound Theatre or one of the BeoVisions have built in wireless transmitters. You could use the Beolab 18’s with a 3rd party source that has a WISA transmitter built-in.

B&O used to sell a wireless transmitter that you could attach to the Core that would probably work. You may have to find a used one. I’ve never used one so I don’t know how well they work.

What do you mean by 100% wireless? The Beolab 18 already has Wireless Power Link (24 bit / 48 kHz) and WiSA (24 bit / 96 kHz).

But the Core doesn’t have wireless capability yet.

On ASE products there is a bug when you set the alarm the “easy” way but there is a way to do it.

Go to Product Settings -> Configure -> Clocks and Timers -> Alarms

You will see your current alarms there and when you edit them you can change the alarm action, save it, and you are good!

I believe the “system sound” can be disabled in:

Product Settings -> Configure -> Settings -> Local Operation

                                          uncheck Enable notification sounds

The two tones, is the first tone higher than the second? This usually indicates that the unit is turning off. If the second tone is higher that indicates that the system is turning on.

What this sounds like is the Stage doesn’t turn off when you stop streaming. If there is no activity after 10 or 15 minutes (I forget how long) then the Stage turns itself off (standby). In the B&O app, you can put the Stage in standby or all systems in standby with the power icon at the top left.
