It’s super creative and the person doing that definitely went through a lot of hoops to realize it. Kudo’s for that at least!
Hi, cool project!
You might try these:

Mmm I believe the lenses are covered by patents. So he cannot just sell it like that. Patents 1072177B1 and 6820718B2. Apart from that I see this person definitely spent some hours of investigation and application on that, although I’m not a huge fan of the black hat on top.
check this out, a lot of people were helped by this: https://www.reddit.com/r/appletv/s/hCzHMc4Kj4
Thanks Ravsted! As the Americans say; “There’s no substitute for cubic inches” – I’d say that the internal volume of he bl3 is bigger, the drivers are bigger and the amps are more powerful. I can’t easily try them somewhere since they’re say – oldtimers – but I can do so with the emerges. I see that Steve indeed reviewed them and was quite happy with it.
Wow that is a difference. The sound of the BS2 is very, very clear and the acoustic lens makes a nice and very wide sound dispersion. And although the balance also does that – though in a technically different way – , I find the BS2 openness more pleasing.
Thanks both of you! Both heavily leaning towards the beolab 3 I see! Any experience with the emerges? Their footprint is a lot smaller.
I have the beosound emerge in my office. A stereo pair of them. I still need to get used to hem to be honest. I adore the design, and they blend in so easily. But in terms of sound, I just don’t know, I miss a bit of clarity and power. I know it’s a little speaker and it is fine for background music, but I’m never remarkably amazed by its sound. Maybe it is because I am used to Sonos play1 speakers, the BL9 and the Theatre, all in another room. So I wonder, how would 2 beolab’s 3 perform in direct comparison (for again another room)? They have about the same frequency response, but I feel that the acoustic lens would add a lot more clarity and openness, and the passive radiators next to the woofer would add up to more depth. Anyone…experiences?
Ha, definitely easier. Thanks again. Save a lot of time!
I will turn down the bass indeed. Although it’s already on -1. Def changed by means of the FW update. Mainly on movies, not even that much on airplay. Will play around and fiddle with the settings a bit. Thanks again.
Interesting, thanks a ton, definitely gonna try this!
Hi Sandyb,
So I’ve set up several listening positions by means of the measurement mic. All listening positions by default enable all channels/drivers of the Theatre. I have several sound modes including the default ‘music’ mode, that enables true image by default. For playing music, I use airplay2 as from my iPhone or Mac, using the ‘music’ sound mode and the appropriate listening position (“couch”). I am to conclude that all drivers/channels from the Theatre are enabled, so including the side firing and upward firing speakers, since the sound is completely different when I disable all channels except the FL and FR speaker. Mainly because of disabling the ‘center’ speaker, I wonder if I’m missing anything anything. Should the center by enabled by default when listening to music? If I disable it, the sound is truly different.
You could use airplay and technically they will be fully in sync 🙂
Hi Geoff, thanks a ton for your answer. I hoped to receive an answer from you as well. And so it happened. Super quickly. Truly appreciated, and absolute brand ambassador worthy.
I will save myself the money of buying a single beolab 8, to ultimately get a sub-optimal sound. Perhaps I need to verify again what the possibilities are to place 2 beolabs 8 somewhere. I adore their sound, design and combo of aluminium with the oak, with the beolab’s 28 circular display on top. They sound amazing. Terrific job done. Enjoy your day. And I hope you will find that Ferrari one day!
Hi Sandyb,
Exactly! I can set a default sound profile for multiple sources but AirPlay isn’t one of them. Let’s await a future update, perhaps this one is suddenly available again 🙂
update / workaround: one can change the favorites option on the beo remote via the app. There “airplay” can be selected, after which the volume, sound profile and listening position can be set … but then you always need to first press the favorite button on the remote, but cumbersome…
Hi! Does anyone know to set a default sound profile specifically for airplay?
