Thanks – I’ll give this a go – basically using the BLP and passive speaker as an active speaker directly connected to the BLC.

really though; I can’t understand why the BLP connected via ML isn’t working.

Yes, as above. There are more ML devices connected (too many to list!) no speakers are connected to either BLC ML/NLs. I’ve used the first BLC-ML/NL as a bridge between the two networks – and its working fine/

          Here are my answers:

Question 1: which of the following is your setup
          a. BL Passive ML connected to BLC – NL devices – another BLC ML connected to your A.Master, or
          b. A.Master ML connected to BL Passive ML connected to BLC – NL devices?

          >>config A is the setup

Question 2: which NL devices are connected?

          >> I have a Beosystem 4, the other NL/ML converter, a Beovision 11

Question 3: you want to move the BLC/BL Passive, does this room have a NL device?

          >> no, it’s a bathroom, so no other device is in the room.

Yes, more’s the pity. It seems B&O are taking a different tack to the old days for multi-room integration. It’s a shame.

Yes, I know you use 8. I tent to have two networks and one join so I only need one per house, but in this case, I would use a second.

I guess my question was more to do with the beososound products – the mk2 beosound a1 would be great if it was NL comparable….

I hadn’t considered the Essence, but really, I think my best option is still with the NL/ML converter as I can have the wired remote control to switch on/off.

It seems that B&O have a hole in their product mix here.

I have a Beomaster 5/Beosound 5 in the mix, so I’m OK for audiomasters, I need this alongside a ML Gateway for automation

alternatively, I could choose a standalone NL device to go in the bathroom, but I’m loathe to have something that would be affected by humidity.

Not quite sure why I am chided about not providing enough info…. but anyway I’m going to have to use the configuration I have mentioned. I’m happy to stay with just an NL system with the ML components not being used so much. It means putting a NL/ML converter and a ML Passive in the ceiling void near the bathroom, but I guess that’s still the only way to do this. If I had confidence that a Beosound 35 would be safe from humidity – I’d probably try that – but it is unlikely.

The controller I mentioned is the IR eye which I’ve used successfully in a few bathrooms and they haven’t been affected by humidity and can be close-up controlled.

It’s a shame that B&O haven’t got a solution to receive NL (wired or wirelessly) – then output to a pair of passive speakers. Passive speakers – specially ones like Beovox 1 are relatively safe against humidity, so make ideal use for bathrooms.

Well I have a Beosystem 4 which will form the hub of the NL network and the speakers would be in the roof of a bathroom (beovox 1S). What I have done elsewhere is run ML to a ML Passive, then to the speakers. I need the ML/NL gateway to do the conversion. There doesn’t seem to be anything in the current NL line that would allow me to just receive NL and output to the passive speakers.

                      Thanks.

The issue is converting from NL to passive speakers. Can’t see how any of the options you listed can handle this.

I’d appreciate any primer on how to build a custom PUC. I suspect if it can be done – and it seems you are doing it! That capability along with LIRC, should make it possible to control anything IR.

                        sounds very exciting!

I suggest you write a note to B&O support. The appletv remote PUC is really based on the non-touch remote and, as such is very limited in functionality. They could add this function as a long-press option on the up button for instance.

I suspect you’d get a lot of appletv users happy to see the new remote supported.

I’m having that discussion with the Plex developers. While not exactly a bug – more of a feature, the Plex app will still continually buffer on the server until told otherwise by the app – even if you switch to another one. I’m suggesting some options to limit the buffering.

the bug is with the PUC. It should switch off as it is an. Option listed when adding the PUC to a device configure.

It’s quite annoying as I use Plex for live TV – and it will continue to stream to the appletv even after I have switched off the Beosystem 4 or beovision 11 – that means increased disk wear on my NAS which wouldn’t happen if the PUC worked correctly!
