..and what was that? Still can’t get the BBC on the beosound 5!
I’d suggest firstly downloading the manual for the Beomaster 5 and beosound 5. What you are plugging in is just the screen (beosound5) power cable, you need also the DVI to HDMI cable and USB cables plugged from the Beomaster 5 to beosound 5 – so 3 cables.
really, check the manuals, then if there is still a problem, come back here and get some advices.
Thanks – I’m using ML and NL, so I doubt that these will help. I suspect that while DAB is still being used in the UK, I’m OK for now.
There was a concerning article in The Telegraph which said that stations would be moving to DAB+ in the UK (classic FM will do in January) although the BBC said they will support DAB for the foreseeable.
bit annoying that a DAB+ upgrade would cost about £700.
Nice project! I really also like the RJ45 to ML block. If only someone could make this for PL, it would make speaker connections so much easier!
I guess you don’t have many David Lewis era speakers then. Converting the existing 8-pin DIN to RJ45 would be ideal – although as the audio isn’t balanced, the choice of cable would be important – maybe CAT6E wouldn’t be good enough..
I’ve found some stream that work outside the uk for bbc radio. The ideal thing would be able to edit the radio database. Does anyone have the format or way of being able to patch the file ?
You’d think the hamburger widget on the right side would allow to re-organise, but it doesn’t for me – on both an iPad and iPhone
edit: works on iPhone, but you have to long press the widget. Not very intuitive!
Funnily enough, after some experimenting, it does work with the BLC, but in the random order shown in the app. If it were possible to organise the stations in the app, then that would be a good enough workaround.
Well finally to solve this, I bought from eBay a M3 and plumbed it into my BLC – which gave me B&O Radio. its a bit of a workaround, but it only cost £130 and fixed the problem.
Now to get BBC radio, my sources point to the M3.
It would be great if it just needs a change in the radio.db and a download of a new codec. If anyone knows the address of the bbc channels, maybe this would be possible.
as a stopgap, what device giving either B&O radio or TuneIn would I need to add to get these channels back? Ideally low-cost and can be hidden away.
I pinged B&O support again, and they are still stumped…… probably hoping we’ll all go away.
I’m not in the uk right now, so I accessed netradio in the uk remotely – and not sure it worked now. It certainly doesn’t work in Spain.
edit: no, NETRADIO doesn’t work for the BBC channels in the UK either. Beosystem 4, beovision 10 & 11.
my beosound 35 gets the BBC channels, but using TuneIn.
I wonder what devices would work – as B&O haven’t come up with a solution yet.
And their latest reply. Looks like we just have to wait.

Thank you for your reply.
I am sorry to say that with third party services changes can occur beyond the initial mentioned once which would require additional actions from our side to see about remedial options. Our technical department tested the BBC functionality based on the initial input with regards to the changes and found no impact but these changes were further altered since then which caused this issue regrettably.
If there is anything else we can assist you with, please do not hesitate to contact us again. I wish you a lovely day.

I’ve asked them when they will fix it.
Well it has happened; they were warned; they said it wouldn’t be a problem; then it is…
here is the response from B&O

Strangely though, it’s working OK for me in the uk… at least NetRadio.
Nice,
I had it, then lost it. You have included all the extra components that are useful too!
note, if trying to access the disk and have the Beomaster 5 on a secure subnet (which is wise as it uses windows XP CE), you need to change the settings in Windows Firewall (on the beomaster 5) in the file and printer sharing to allow access from other subnets.
it’s possible that you have no shared drives set up. If that is the issue, Use a usb keyboard and mouse to go into the service menu (the windows screen) and set the E: drive to shared.
I was a Founder Member and have maintained Gold status since 2007 but seem to have lost that now….
