It’s a complex workaround but you can do group volume control with the BeoRemote 1 via HomeAssistant or BLI.

May be, but the Mozart products with GVA do have the alarm function.

I think it is a very wise decision of B&O to get completely rid of Google. There are so many little things that do not work on the GVA products that are not documented. And even worse, simple commands like “turn off in 2 hours” just don’t work ?

Another question, do all BS2 versions have the alarm option? My BS2 and my friend’s A9 both without GVA have the alarm function but my A9 with GVA has not. I don’t really get why it is missing from my A9, seems a bit arbitrary.

I have the same issue with my BS2. I think it is sine the switch to B&O Radio? Hope they will soon fix this.

Hi Geoff, I am looking forward to read your post. I sometimes refer my students to your articles on your blog, you really have some excellent material there!

I have two questions about the Theatre which are not obvious from the currently available information. Under the assumption that there is a ceiling that allows to bounce back the sound, can the Theatre use the upfiring speakers to emulate the effect of ceiling speakers? And similarly, if the rooms allow it, can it use the side firing speakers to widen the sound stage?

They are harmonising the colour schemes of the BeoSound, BeoLab and BeoVision lines with silver, gold and anthracite. Likely because the Theatre will allow better integration of the products (e.g. BeoLab front with Balance rear).

Personally, whatever the finish, I still find the Balance design uninspiring compared to products like the BeoSound 2 or A9.

Furthermore there is no option anymore to rearrange your products in the startpage – means which one you want to appear first, second etc. Today I added an M3, which I definitely won’t use that much. This was placed at the top and can not be moved further down like with the regular app versions. A bug or a deliberate choice of the app team???

For me on my iPhone I am able to rearrange the products on the startpage.

With the latest beta on the iPhone you cannot change the order on the start page but when you go to Settings and then Products there is an Edit button that allows you to rearrange the order.

Something that annoyed me for a long time is that you cannot rearrange your B&O favourite stations. This is especially annoying because new stations are added to the beginning of the list.

                      • Beosound 2: in my opinion one of the most beautiful products in the current B&O product lineup. It is inspiring, looks like a sculpture and is a conversation starter. The sound is warm and effortlessly spreads through the room. It sounds not as controlled or accurate than some of the new speakers, but that character contributes to its unique sound signature. It’s almost like the Beosound 2 sings along with the music, giving its own interpretation, and it does that in a very pleasing way.
                      • Beoplay A9: again a stunning B&O design icon which integrates in any environment. It is extremely powerful and a perfect party beast, however, for critical listening it is not my favourite.
                      • Beolab 18: in 2013 Beolab 18 replaced the Beolab 8000, one of the most successful products B&O ever made designed by David Lewis. Designing a successor for such an icon was an incredibly hard challenge, most iterations of a product don’t succeed to match the original. In the case of the 18s, I think Torsten Valeur did an incredible job in keeping the overall look and feel, refine the general lines and add some unique touches.
                      • Beosound Level: adding the Level to the list because especially in smaller rooms it just sounds amazing, especially given its size and portability.
                      • Beosound Stage: not the most inspiring design, but in terms of sound for your money by far the best product in the B&O lineup. I also think this is an important product to attract new customers.
