As an owner of both, I would without hesitation go for the 8000’s. The Beosound 2 delivers and amazing sound for a single standing speaker. But the 8000’s, although lacking a bit on the bass side, in general give a truly superior sound.

I had the combination of 2 Beolab 8000’s + Beolab 2 about fifteen years ago after realizing that the 8000’s were severely lacking deep bass delivery. Immediately after adding the Beolab 2, I noticed a huge difference and remained more than happy with the addition until moving up to Beolab 20’s. Presently in a large finished basement setting there are 2 Beolab 12-2’s to the sides of a television screen + Beolab 2 . In both cases, the Beolab 2 added significant bass for music listening and film viewing. In the basement scenario in particular, the Beolab 2 adds an inexplainable richness to the overall sound. If you are thinking of acquiring a Beolab 2 for your 8000’s, trust that you will not regret it in any way!

Through the B&O app, have you tried “Troubleshoot” and/or “Reboot” for the Core?

Also, is the Core’s software up to date? I believe that the latest version in the US is “v2.0.47943.

Have you disconnected the mains from both the Core and Lab 20’s and waited a minute or two before reconnecting and going through the set up process?

I am assuming that since your Lab 20’s are show room demos that their firmware is up to date.

Have you tried contacting B&O Support which is accessible through the B&O website?

My Avant 55″ lasted about three years before the video engine went. It would have cost about 1700.00 dollars to replace. This is not all what I had expected for a set that at the time cost around 8,000 dollars plus installation.

Definitely with you on overkill with the BL19. The 28’s deliver amazing bass. AND I would definitley wait until the release of the new B&O sound bar

Thank you for responding to my question regarding the 28’s. My B&O seller has sent me new and shorter ethernet cables for powerlink connection and has advised me for shorter 1 meter mains which have already been purchased. The next step is to figure out how to best remove and replace the wooden curtains before replacing these cables. Thank you again!

                      Curly,

Although I have only lived with the Lab 28’s for a couple of days, I have absolutely no regrets about their purchase. I researched carefully and listened to the speakers in two B&O stores before the final decision to buy them. The 28’s replaced the 20’s which have been placed elsewhere in the house where 9’s used to be. It has always been difficult for me to answer the question, “How do the newer speakers compare to the older ones”?, but I will try. – The 9’s remain one of my favorites which were my first three way B&O loudspeakers. The 20’s always seemed to have a more “crisp” sound to me with a less “boomie” sound on the bass side, but the 9’s still seem to deliver a more rich and full sound. I guess the best way for me to describe the new 28’s is that they seem to represent a more realistic and natural sound than both the 9’s and 2o’s. Unlike the 20’s, 9’s, 12-2’s and 8000’s that I have, I find absolutely no reason to adjust the bass or treble on the 28’s.

Steve at soundsheavenly.com would be your best help with all necessary cables. The Beosound CORE is what I used for seamless music and non-B&O television sound. Again, Steve can help the best with your questions/needs.

Yes, 15% discount currently in progress throughout most B&O stores on certain speakers in the USA through April 30th which at least to me seems rather reasonable. Just purchased a pair of Beolab 28’s from my extremely trustworthy store in Scottsdale, AZ. I have been an avid fan and purchaser of B&O audio/visual products for the past 45 years and have purchased from the Scottsdale store for the past ten. The owner of the store is very honest and never pushes sales. He listens carefully to his clients needs and meets them consistently. He not only sells the product but has the product in his home and is a professional B&O installer. The products he has sold me as well as his installations have all been more than excellent experiences. He is, for me, an exemplary representative of the Bang & Olufsen name. I may often visit other B&O stores, but will always go back to the Scottsdale store.
