Nice idea.
I think overhang is way off though, this can’t be quite right!
So it certainly looks pretty but technically it isn’t right by quite a margin.I had the same impression. A bit dull.
The tweeter output can be weak, but you can boost treble, as it’s adjustable. All the way up as far as I’m concerned.
Perhaps the tweeter goes bad, I don’t know, does it have ferrofluid?Oh, MY glass panel?
What happened? ?
Bonjour Didier,
The magnet polarities are reversed, not electric polarities.
Always put marks before disassembly, to avoid that kind of mistake.
Classic!
Soundsmith, definitely AFAIC. That’s what I’ve been using for years. BUT the sound is brighter than any B&O cartridges, more up to date and CD-like.
What Martin says ??
I listen to Radio 4 via iTunes and it’s fine.
I always steer clear of choosing different types of components and stick to what there was in the first place. For instance, no metal oxyde resistors if there were carbon ones, no film caps instead of electrolytics.
No surprises.
I restore things. I don’t claim to be able to upgrade them. I am not. If there was a TL072 then I’ll replace with a TL072, not a fancy audiophile op-amp that I know will bring nothing, or perhaps just trouble.
So whenever I restore a B&O device it will always be like for like.
Hi Bert,
Seriously how do you perceive Martin as being aggressive?
He’s one of the kindest and helpful people I have known since I registered here in 2009!
What he offers are just instructions and also some useful teaching. Does he really have to put a ‘please’ before every helpful instruction?
Jacques
Where did you get that lovely Beo Hub board from?
I did have to replace a reed switch and a blown transistor on mine (TR6 I think?).
Trouble is, B&O regularly sent additions to their service manuals. Perhaps this mod was done after one of them, who knows.
Odd.
Mine still runs on its original main caps too.
No hum anyway?I’d suspect a switch problem.
Good!
Uploading pictures is easy. You can set the size easily here, at bottom right:
Good luck and remember, we love pictures here.
There is no quick fix, unfortunately. Check the treble amp, its level trimmer, and the wiring too.
No doubt, the mighty MS-150s.
Then a pair of Pentas, both missing in my collection.

Found this:
Bonjour Guy, et bienvenue ?
Sois plus précis : de quoi parle-t-on exactement ?
Je ne vois pas du tout où sont ces résistances.
I’d say an erratic bulb perhaps? When it’s on its way out the deck will have the strangest behaviours…
Hi,
I have yet to find an original stylus that is still good, several decades after they were produced. Don’t expect anything from old cartridges. They just don’t work.
