Conclusion: send Rudy your motors, as he’s now the absolute expert. You know, like a surgeon who has performed lots of operations, as opposed to one who has just done a few.
Thanks for the pictures John. Very useful. The trimmer is very thin. Have you found a replacement?
The motor does look similar to the Beocord 6000/8000 one but is it the same? How are the two speeds obtained?
Jacques
Unfortunately the Beocord 9000 motor is specific to these decks. It is irreplaceable.
So unless you know what you’re doing, send it to someone who can do it in their sleep like Rudy!
I did mine ten years ago and it just needed a new set of belts and a drop of oil here and there, always a good idea while it’s in bits and pieces.
Just enjoy your deck as it is. Keep your money!
Good and well done Terry ?
BC534 perhaps?
Well done, the pictures are really a welcome bonus. Thank you.
Hi,
Did you set the brake pad correctly? It should be inside the wheel, not outside. I think I had the problem but that was a long time ago…
The top cap can be removed with moderate force (go ahead, don’t be shy) and can be put back on. Many cassette deck reels use this assembly method.
Clean the metal shaft with some white spirit then some DTE oil may be applied inside the reel’s central hole (one tiny drop) before reassembling. The felt washer shouldn’t be oiled.
Nothing to read here, sorry.
Hi and welcome!
It does involve some extensive soldering work, and possibly capacitor replacements. Plenty of information on the archived forums.Do have a look, do your homework then come back here if you have any unanswered questions. ☺️
I have nine, among which four B&O. Selling one of them will only bring regrets later on. Keep them all! ?
- I bought a mint white 4002 12 years ago for € 50. Nobody wanted them back then.
How things change! Today’s prices are becoming ludicrous. What I could afford in the past is unattainable now.
So you got yourself a clear bargain. I just hope you’ll keep it and not sell it. Sometimes I help people (free advice) repair their ‘precious’ hi-fi devices, only to see them later on local ads for a huge asking price. That makes me cross. Anyway, I digress, I’ll stop ranting.
Enjoy your great deck!
I’m happy I started my B&O collection in the late noughties.
Hi,
That reminds me of my own Beogram adventures, some 12 odd years back! ?
Well done, with John’s invaluable help, but as we always said: pictures or it didn’t happen ?A tradition here was to post plenty of restoration pictures, which was always really helpful.
Jacques
I had mine done 10 years ago I must say, by a good fellow of this forum. But yes it’s a beautiful unit. Well done then ?
Enjoy your MC120 “Pespective”. Did you have to clean the protection contacts?
I have them attached to a Beomaster 8000.
Nice! Enjoy it. ?
I can’t join an attachment sorry. It doesn’t seem to work with image files.
But seriously, yes, I can do it.
Sure thing. ?
Hi everyone!
My prize is now with me, after a fairly complicated shipping process, probably because of the Royal Mail cyberattack.
It’s a lovely Beosound 6 with matching headphones and all boxed, with original accessories – yes, even the CD – that are a superb addition to my beocollection.
Thanks Lee ?
