As a follow up, someone had mentioned that maybe a lot of the issues were due to maybe an overload due to an electrical surge. I suspect they were correct!
I ended up buying a new (well, from a donor machine) amplifier board and a new (donor) FM board. After replacing those two boards everything works. Hurray!
And after a year, still working great I got a Audio Terminal remote and it works as well old technology made new 🙂
This experiment get me the courage to rebuild a Beomaster 2400. The BeoCenter project was a piece of cake compared to the 2400 ?
Actually the missing resistor wasn’t the issue. In the original board the same resistor was removed, so not a coincidence. What ended up being the issue was a loose connector on a capacitor. The trace had lifted from the board for one of the legs on the capacitor, so I just added a jumper wire. Problem solved. The doors and cassette motors work at the proper speed. Always seems like something minor. 😉
Thanks for the tip! I actually decided to locate the parts on the original board (the one that controls the motor speeds correctly but only sound when you turn it up all the way). I noticed a missing resistor! So, tomorrow I’ll replace the missing resistor and swap back in the original board. Worth a try!
Thanks Mark-sf!
I’ll do some digging online how to check the power supply voltages. I don’t have any experience with doing that and only have a multi-meter.
Hello Guy!
I actually replaced the mute relay (and forgot to mention it) with a new one. It wasn’t working properly when I first got the BeoCenter. The volume is low on both the sets of speaker sockets BUT when I select Mute with the speakers connected to the first set of speaker sockets, the volume (low as it is) does mute properly.
Hi!
I would like to know if there are any replacement feet available, too. The feet available on Martin’s site don’t include the Beocenter 9000 series (9000, 9500(.
In the Service manual, they are listed on page 3-1 as item 9109 (3103083) – Foot rubber.
Does anyone know if they are available anywhere or will “stick-on” feet from Amazon do in a pinch?
