Thanks Steve. They are not as smart as I thought then. ๐ When B&O says that Beolab 8 can orchestrate classic music system, I thought it was possible to pilot the radio, CD, Vinyl from the app and stream it across multiple speakers. The promise of the Gateway, which unfortunately has never really worked for me… So I will pass.
If I connect these beautiful Beolab 8 to an old sound system like Beosystem 6500 or the like, can I stream the music from that sound system across all wireless speakers in the house? (easily?)
Also… Is it me or do they look a bit like a tuning fork? ๐
Will it offer compatibility with older Hi-Fi systems, like the Beosystem 6500, allowing control of CD, Radio, and Vinyl through the remote app?
Yes and no! Powerlink is an analog connection for sound, which means that the BL8 can be used with any Beomaster, Beosound, Beocenter that has Powerlink output port. They then act as a source for the BL8โs โ these are then just speakers. In that case you are controlling the source device with its normal remote control e.g. a Beo4. MM
Thanks for your explanation. I am still puzzled by this: “But Beolab 8 doesnโt just play with the classics. Its Mozart platform helps orchestrate them like never before“. What does that mean? Just marketing lingo without further significance? Also, there is datalink on pin 6 & 7 of the Powerlink cable, is it just to show information on the display of Penta, Beolab 5000 etc or was it able to control volume or devices through it?
I haven’t had the chance to explore the details of the legacy Powerlink integration. Will it offer compatibility with older Hi-Fi systems, like the Beosystem 6500, allowing control of CD, Radio, and Vinyl through the remote app? Additionally, will it enable music streaming to other wireless speakers? If anyone comes across information on these different scenarios, please share it with us. Thanks.
