Although I have owned B&O products since 1986, I’ve never owned a Beogram turntable and back in the days, my partner’s old Yamaha made do.
I still have a few vinyl recordings left (simply couldn’t let them go all these years) and was thinking that perhaps it is time to put them back in work and actually listen to full albums instead of jumping back and forth in playlists.
I simply thinking of getting a Beogram and connecting it to a combined NL/ML network, using an Essence MKII, so here are my questions?
1- Which of The Beograms can be controlled with Beoremote one BT, Essence or Halo?
2- Which one of the candidates from question 1 are the best you can get for money in terms of reliability and functions (in that order)? Thanks

5 September 2022 at 08:27 #38864Thanks Chartz, but I believe Steve from Sounds heavenly Talks about one in a youtube clip. See blow link
5 September 2022 at 09:48 #38865You will need a Beogram with datalink connection.
If you want to be able to control and use it with the newer stuff (Essence MK2….), you will also need an audiomaster/Beocenter, that can connect to the NL/ML Converter via Masterlink.
This is how the do it in the Beo Home (in the video from Steve).
Here – in addition – it can also be accessed via voice control….MM
5 September 2022 at 11:31 #38866Thanks again, MM, for the highly valued advice.
So do you mean that:
1- A Beogrma cannot be connected directly to a BS-Essence.
2- Or do you mean it can be connected to BS-Essence while controlling it remotely requires an audio master in the ML network?
3- If the answer to 2 is Yes, would any ML-enabled audio master do, such as Beocentre 2 or Beosound 4?
4- And finally, which Beogram is the most recommended turntable?
Thanks again
6 September 2022 at 04:33 #38869I agree: don’t bother and just enjoy pressing the start button of a nice 1700 or 5000. Or of course a 4000…
6 September 2022 at 05:12 #38870I would hold out for a ‘remote controllable’ solution; there’s something special about being able to control a ‘mechanical’ device by remote, especially if it’s a Beogram ?
6 September 2022 at 05:16 #38871True. The Beolab 8000 and the pizza boxes are a joy to use and behold.
6 September 2022 at 05:22 #38872Agree with Guy and chartz.
However, since Sia43 wrote in the initial posting:
“I still have a few vinyl recordings left”,
I thought that I would offer him the more uncomplicated (and also cheaper) way of doing this….in addition to the ‘real thing’.

6 September 2022 at 09:06 #388671: Yes, it can….but you will not be able to (remote) control it……that was what you asked for in your initial posting.
2: Yes, otherweise you won’t be able to utilize the needed datalink connection (that it where the controlling happens).
3: Yes, and furthermore any older master (e.g. a BM4500/6500….) that is connected to the ML chain using a 1611 Beolink Converter.
4: Hard to say – but you are limited to one with datalink (e.g. a 4500, 6500….), if it should be controlable via the NL devices.
Honestly – the easiest way would be to connect a turntable of your choice (you might need a riaa amp) to the line-in of a M3 or an additional Essence MK2 without connected speakers – this way it will be accessable in the NL chain……
….…you will need to place the vinyl disc physically on the turntable and turn it over after 20 minutes anyway ?

Thanks once again. As always, you have been truly helpful, which I’m grateful for.
7 September 2022 at 07:00 #38873I have restored various BGs from BG 1000 to BG 4002 and BG 5000. From a mechanical point of view I recommend the BG 5000, I bought that one 12 years ago, opened it up and cleaned and lubricated it, checked all adjustment and it has been my daily used BG nearly ever since. IMO the best build BG I have come across, build like a tractor. I use a MMC 2 on it. The difference to a MMC 4 is clearly hear able. Its the only BG I have had that I could store for a couple of years, take it out. connect it and run it without any problems.
