Hi all

Is it possible to use different speaker cable lengths on a pair of speakers Beolab 20 used for front speakers by an eclipse? Also there are only 4 speaker connection on the panel

I have 5 speakers in total Beolab 20 front Beolab 9 back and a Beolab 2 Sub how do I get around this please.

The lenght will not matter!

Each PL output on the Eclipe carries two signals – normally used as L/R.

This means that your Eclipse easily can send sound to a 6.2 setup of external speakers – if you count the speakers on the tv in and this is setup as the center channel, you can have a 7.1 with the Eclipse.

Note!
You can go even further, if you also use the WiSA connections there to compatible speakers.

By the way….you will probably not benefit much from adding a BL2 to these two powerfull sets of speakers – both have even more ‘bass capacity’ than a single BL2.
But you can do it, if you please.

Totally agree with MM, but I would even go so far as to say that adding the Beolab 2 might make some frequencies QUIETER when you combine it with the Beolab 20s. This is because of the frequency-dependent phase differences caused by the fact that Beolab 2 has slave drivers and the Beolab 20s have closed cabinets.

If anyone wants a more technical explanation of this, let me know and I’ll start writing a blog post. 😀

This may explain why I have been underwhelmed by the base response on my set up.

There has been a definite lack of base experience in my set up .

thanks for the information if you have any tips on getting the best out of my set up I would appreciate it .

Hi Stuart50_1,

The possible issue of slave-drivers (of BL2) cancelling the low end of a closed cabinet (of BL20) cannot explain your issue, since your 20s and 9s are all closed cabinet design.

So, if you are lacking bass, then the issue must be caused by something else. You have a number of options available to you in the setup menus of the BV11, but this takes the thread to a completely different topic.

You could start by adjusting the Bass Redirection levels so that the 9s and 20s have the same value, and then if you want more bass, turn them all up by the same amount (go slowly…)

Another option is to turn UP the 20s and set the 9s lower.

A third option is to try turning off Bass Management to see if this better matches your preference.

I have just reinstated my set up Eclips gen 2 beolab 20 front beolab 9 ,back .

Cannot get the beolab 9 to work on speaker connection set up , they do play with the front speaker but not on their own ?

Hi have just ready that you cannot daisy chain from the front speakers to the back speakers is this correct . It advises using a splitter ?

is this correct or is there a work around Please.

You indeed can daisy chain from the fronts to the speakers in the back.
But then these would also act as fronts…..which probably is, what has happened in your case (?).

The backs/the 9’s must be on their own PL port in the Eclipse and they must be adressed/assugned as backs/rears.

If you modify the main Speaker Group (1/tv), they will all play togther in their assigned roles, typically with the tv speakers as a center channel.

If you want the 20’s respectively the 9’s to play seperately, you must create a Speaker Group just for that.

P.S.
You can daisy chain the 20’s to another and the 9’s respectively from their PL connection.
The roles L/R etc is conigured in the Sound Menu of the tv.

to add to this remark: if both front speakers are daisy chained (so left and right front speakers have been assigned) and then daisy chain the rear speakers, the back speakers can only act as front speakers, as described by MM.
But, for example, the right back speaker can be daisy chained to the right front speaker and be assigned in the Eclipse correctly.

The rule: to one PL connection in the Eclipse one can connect AND assign two speakers. Every next daisy chained speaker will then act as one of these two assigned speakers.
