Am I the only one having this problem?
My old LG TV had a headset jack output, which I used for input in my Beomaster 6500 and Beolab 8000. It has worked fine for many years.
I really only use the BM6500 for ChromeCast Audio and TV sound to my Beolab 8000 speakers. So it not a must to me keeping the BM6500 🙂
Now I have bought a new LG TV, where there is only HDMI eARC and Toslink output.
I have tried a several digital to analog adapters (HDMI/Phono, Toslink/Phone). Best case sound comes through, but I cannot control the sound from the TV as I could on the old TV.
Is there a way to control sound from TV or is trying to control the sound from the TV a hopeless project?
I know of the B&O Core, but I am not sure if that does the trick.
17 April 2023 at 09:12 #45847Hi and welcome to Beoworld!
I think that you will need to use an hdmi extractor that also incorporates CEC volume control (so that the TV’s volume control can control the device’s analogue audio output volume) . I found something on AV Forums that points to a device called the SHARC eARC audio converter. It is described here but listed as discontinued: https://www.thenaudio.com/product/sharc-earc-audio-converter/
Perhaps you can find one second hand, or someone else knows of a similar device.
EDIT: I just noticed that the newer device also has analogue out, but it’s a bit pricey: https://www.thenaudio.com/product/sharc-v2-8k-earc-audio-processor/
The description states:
Supports CEC switching and command passthrough using the TV remote and the source remotes.
- Use AppleTV / Roku / Xbox / other remote controllers to control the volume level, mute and source switching.
- Volume control applies to the audio system connected to the HDMI output, line-level RCA outputs, and the headphones output.

I ordered the shARC v2 today.
You are right – it looks very much the one I need 🙂

13 May 2023 at 07:04 #45850I received the shARC V2 and set it up.
It worked, but I was not satisfied because it reacted very slow, and sometimes not to the LG Magic Remote sound control .
I wrote with ThenAudio support and they sent me a new Firmware, whihc I installed on the shARC V2. This solved my problem to my satisfaction.
Thanks to the nice guys at Then Audio, and you Guy 🙂
