I have two BeoLab 2000 speakers, each connected through a Masterlink cable to a Beolink 1611 converter. (Each Beolink 1611 is fed audio into its Audio Aux Link socket from a wireless music source). I have a Beo4 (Mk.1) remote control which I used to set up the BeoLab 2000s to play audio.
I had each BeoLab 2000 working fine until several months ago when one setup was put into storage while we had some building work done. The other one carried on working just fine, and still does.
Building work completed, I retrieved the gear that had been in storage and reconnected it. Maddeningly I cannot remember what I did with my Beo4 remote control to make the BeoLab 2000 play audio from the Beolink 1611. Insanely I appear not to have left myself a note about how I did it! I’ve Googled a lot but been unable to find the correct sequence of buttons to press on the Beo4 to make the setup work in the way it used to (in the way that its sibling still does).
The BeoLab 2000 is showing a red LED. I know that when it’s doing what I want, it shows a yellow LED (as does it’s sibling still working in another room). Please can somebody tell me what I need to do? I think I remember that it was something to do with putting the BeoLab 2000 into a special mode, perhaps a service mode.
And this time, when I learn what to do, I shall leave myself both digital and paper notes so that I don’t have to ask again!
Thanks for reading this.

10 December 2023 at 08:14 #51161If it was working before the building works I woulds suspect the Masterlink cable connection. The only setup of the BL2000 in a masterlink system is an option setting which should be intact even when unpowered.
However you can try setting it by pressing List + standby at the same time. Then press list until option shows in the BEO4 display. The press go and list again until it shows L.OPT. Then press 6 and go.
The speaker should now be set to option 6 which is a link room that can respond to both audio and video commands.
By the way whicjh command do you use to activate the working speaker?
The service code you are mentioning should only be nessecary If you are connectiong an audio device directly to the Masterlink connector on the speaker without the use of the 1611 converter
17 January 2024 at 10:47 #51162Thanks for that advice Madskp. I swapped the Masterlink cables between the working and non-working setups and demonstrated that it was the cable at fault. It was two pieces joined by the B&O Masterlink connector. It looked fine inside but after using the B&O IDC tool to press down firmly on each wire, then trying again, it all worked properly as before.
I suppose that one or more of the connections was marginal and that moving the cable to store it while the building work was done must have just loosened one.17 January 2024 at 11:11 #51163Good to hear that the problem was solveable and your setup is working again ?
