Hoping someone can help set me straight on the in-built DVD in the Beovision7- 40.

The unit has defaulted somehow to play only Region 2 discs, not Region 4 which is Australia’s

      region code.

Is there anything I can do to change it back to Region 4, or multi-zone it, or will it have to go to a service centre ?

      regards

      Noel

        Hi Noel,

I had a quick look at the service manuals (available here) and they state that the ‘Service Tool’ is required to change the region code, so unfortunately you will need to contact a service centre – perhaps ask them to visit you if they have the tool which could be easier than moving the TV.

It is strange that the code has changed, but I think I have read about this problem before on one of the archived forums. The service manuals do also explain how to check (but not change) the current codes.

EDIT: See also this thread about a special remote: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.ouronlineserver.com/forums/p/38034/289325.aspx#289325

Whilst the region setting can be change with the service tool, its not a requirement.

Eleven years ago I wrote the attached document and made an XML file for the Beo5/6.

Attached is the Procedure for setting a Beovision 7 & AVANT DVD to Region Free

And the sheet refers to a “special” Beo4 Remote ?

You only have the two options and the procedure provides the instructions for both.

            1. Get hold of the “Special Command 2” Beo4
            2. If you have a Beo5/6 and you load the XML file which I built 11 years ago and I can supply.

If you do not have one of above, then you will not be able to make it region free.

              Hi Keith,

Many thanks for your reply, and supplying the procedure sheet.

I will have to try and get access to the special remote.

              regards

              Noel.

Thanks Keith for the procedure sheet- but how do I disconnect the

                DVB-T module ?

                regards

                Noel.
