my first BeoRemote One is the one I purchased with my BeoSound Theatre.
after a month of normal use (television in the evening) the remote is prompting me to change the batteries. The remote was brand new and I used the included batteries.
Is this normal or is it perhaps due to it ran software updates when I first took it in use?
It seems excessive to change batteries every month but I don’t know whether this is normal? What’s your experience?
1 February 2023 at 10:08 #38142I find the batteries in the BR1 variable – even with market-leading brands over those cheap ones that always ship with OEM products.
I’ve seen BR1 last 4-6 weeks and sometimes over 6 months ++.
I think the Bluetooth side of it (with 2-way control) eats a lot of power inherently.
1 February 2023 at 12:06 #38143On the “will DTS be added?” question, my previous soundbar (Sony HT-ST5000) it shipped with only Dolby Atmos capability but a software update after a few months enabled DTS support. Not saying the same will occur with the Theatre but it appears possible as software rather than a hardware addition.

1 February 2023 at 12:44 #38140@Sandyb It must be PCM, when it arrives at the BST, since the UHD player is doing the decoding. How is you speaker setup – 5.1 or 7.1? MM
Indeed, and I of course get that it should show PCM given my player settings. But showing the input signal as 7.1, not quite sure why the app would show that.
I’m not especially concerned, as the movie soundtrack sounded pretty good to me, and nothing seemed out of place.
2 February 2023 at 10:08 #38147It happened again yesterday but it turned out the kids had been playing with the Apple Home app and assigned new names. All is well.
8 February 2023 at 01:17 #38148Talking about battery life, with my former eclipse the batteries would last about 5-6 months
With the theatre premuim batteries seem to last between 4 and 8 weeks!!
9 February 2023 at 08:36 #38149Is it the same remote you are using or have you purchased a new one for the Beosound Theatre?
9 February 2023 at 09:01 #38150Hi Its the same remote and all oyther paired devices have been removed!
10 February 2023 at 12:33 #38151Same, new remote with Theatre, batteries replaced yesterday – 8 maybe 9 weeks!
10 February 2023 at 12:54 #38152Same. 8 weeks.
10 February 2023 at 12:54 #38153I think what has happened (I changed batteries on an old BR1 two days ago – 14weeks from commissioning the Theatre) is that there was a software request that the BR1 was slow to respond (wakeup) with the Theatre after a period of inactivity.
The Theatre is what I would call two-way Control (not Comms) and heavily BeoApp dependant. I think to speed-up remote response, the BR1 has been “opened-up” channel-wise to be responsive for longer (A bit like 30min sleep on a PC). This will go through battery PDQ.
I suppose the solution to this would be for a) B&O to get the BR1 and make rechargeable with a USB-C dock (an add back-light while they are doing it) or b) get the Halo sorted out as a viable remote option.
11 February 2023 at 01:08 #38159Someone asked in another/a subthread this: “Would like to understand more how home integration is a part of Theatre. Sound great. Could you share some more details on how that is achieved?”. Any Theatre user who has experience with this or any comments there? Would be interesting to have these in this main Theatre thread. MM
Good thinking. Thanks for lifting the question here.
11 February 2023 at 01:28 #38154Love the idea of a docking station and adding a back light, I don’t know how many times I’ve looked for my glasses, to try and find pause etc. 🙂
11 February 2023 at 02:07 #38160someone on Discord who has a HomeAssistant setup at home, with something acting as a HA hub, has found some of his integrations / control appearing on his Theatre BR1 – I think his BR1 can control some of his Hue lights etc.
And I dont believe he has has a BLI as part of his setup.
11 February 2023 at 02:49 #38161The LG TV actually has its own impressive integrated control of devices in your home. Its “home dashboard” can give you control of Hue lights, Ikea lights, washer, dryer, etc. It would seem conceivable that the Beoremote One could at the very least bring up the home dashboard screen.
11 February 2023 at 02:55 #38162Actually, the Home Dashboard can be pulled up with just three clicks of the Beoremote One: Menu (the house icon), Down, Enter.
11 February 2023 at 04:42 #38163Ok so I got the BR1 remote when I got the Theatre end of Oct. I find it to be a terrible remote so I never use it. Maybe once a week to change the volume at best. The battery ran out today at 3 months. The fact that we are in 2023 and this thing isn’t rechargeable or have motion detection so it always lights up the screen AND keys is crazy. Well… off to find that tiny tool so I can take the remote apart into 5 pieces to change a battery…

I love my BeoremoteOne ? A paperclip will do for opening the remote ?
11 February 2023 at 10:46 #38155Same here… judt ordered a pair of Pale Blue batteries (new technology of rechargeable batteries) that can be charged directly via usb-c… I‘ll let you know as soon as I tested them for a few weeks/months… :). Recharging takes just an hour, btw.
