Does anyone know if we need to add to the distance of Receiver 1 speakers to adjust for the slight time lag? I’m thinking that since we’re doing this in the manual settings that the adjustment might not be automatic. We always had to add distance for WISA speakers in the Beosystem 4 settings.
27 December 2022 at 09:19 #37926Is there nothing in…….
Listening Position >> Select >> Edit Position >> select speaker. Adjust distance, level etc…
27 December 2022 at 10:15 #37927Currently, Receiver 1 speakers cannot be added by Room Sense. They have to be added manually. Therefore, I’m curious if we need to add extra distance to the actual distance for wireless delay compensation. Has anyone heard an answer to this?
27 December 2022 at 10:37 #37928So how does Theatre know there is something connected? My assumption was some speaker role was added (even if manual addition and even if it is seen as Receiver 1 but may have any speaker connected to it).
Obviously, I’m unable to simulate this. Assumed something in “edit positions”
27 December 2022 at 10:47 #37923I have now got better sound from the line-in Beogram connection with the Theatre. I switched the gain to 50db and the volume is much more in step with other sources.
With the Theatre, I wouldn’t need a power amp, right? At the moment I have the Beogram hooked to the preamp and the preamp output to the Theatre via the line-in.
Thx

The manual addition in listening positions is far from ideal — but it’s the best we have for right now to add a Receiver 1 until B&O sorts this out to have the proper calculations done in Room Sense. The Beosystem 4, that did not have internal WISA support and relied on a Transmitter 1, would have us add 3.5 meters to the actual speaker distance to compensate for the delay. However, from reading the Beovision Technical Sound Guide it sounds like Beovisions that supported WISA already adjusted for the sound delay.
27 December 2022 at 12:41 #37922Connected a BL19 to my Theatre today, along with 28s and 1s. Question….does the Phase setting on the 19 matter with the Theatre?
28 December 2022 at 01:43 #37936Thanks guys. Makes sense regarding setting to Free which is also what I did yesterday but nice to confirm it. Well spotted for the BL2, I had missed that in the manual.
28 December 2022 at 01:52 #37937As I am switching from BeoVision 11 I would like to create speaker groups with the BeoSound Theatre so that I can have what the old Avant used to call Speaker 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
When I look around the app I can’t find where I can deactivate speakers I can only adjust their levels etc.
When I play music I would like that only the front left and right and the subwoofer to play. How can I make such a setup? And for e.g. the news just the Theatre.
Is there really no user manual for the Theatre and app?
28 December 2022 at 02:12 #37938BeoMedia,
Ive posted lots on setting up Listening Positions. My Listening positions (all from the same position) are “Video” (5.1), “Centre” (Theatre only), “Narrow” (BL90 Narrow for discerning music), “Wide” and “Omni”. Suggest you review them and the room-sense runs. You can do practically the same thing with Centre, 2.0/2.1, 3.1 and 5.1
28 December 2022 at 02:17 #37930How do you manually add a speaker connected to the Receiver 1?
Thanks
28 December 2022 at 02:30 #37939is there no way to prevent the Theatre from hijacking the TV when playing music? i.e. when I want to listen to music on the “good” speakers while my child watches cartoons 😀
28 December 2022 at 02:41 #37940I can do that with my 28s as fronts using them as the music source, but don’t know of any way to do it otherwise.
28 December 2022 at 02:43 #37941You should set all speakers (with such a setting option) to free. This is how they were measured in Struer, before adding the values to the BS Theatre for the Room Sense process. A BL2 (or any sub) should be connected with its own PL (with no daisychaining to other BL’s).….otherweise the BS Theatre will not know which values to use, when Room Sensing. According to the BL2 manual, it should be set to 3, since it is connected seperately to the system: “If you have a Dolby Digital system, and therefore no speakers are directly connected to BeoLab 2, we recommend that you set the SETUP switch to 3”. MM
Any idea whether the Phase setting on the 19 is still relevant with a Theatre or does the Theatre’s magic make the Phase switch redundant?
28 December 2022 at 03:19 #37942@BeoMedia……Dont believe so – the only way of achieving your scenario is (and forgive me, I dont know what other speakers you have in the same room) is to directly connect a music source to your (lest say) front left and rights.
I have a music source direct (via RCA) to my BL50s (which are also powelink connected to my BV)….in that way I can keep the BV screen on (let’s say with some sport on), switch it to a centre only speaker group (muted or low vol, up to you), and then the 50s are free to play music when I trigger my music source.
So this kind of thing is do-able, provided you have speakers with power-link and some other connection options, and you have a separate music source connected that way,
28 December 2022 at 05:29 #37943Is there really no user manual for the Theatre and app?
—————
As far as I am aware there is no dedicated manual (yet).
However, you can learn a lot about how the Theatre works reading the articles in the blog of Geoff Martin………
…..starting here/86:P.S. The app is still a work in progress – a manual for this would have to be edited many times in the coming months.
You can find a lot of hints to setting up Listening Positions in this thread.MM
28 December 2022 at 09:03 #37944Anyone else having their Theatre hard crash every couple weeks? I get a flashing white light on the front with nothing working and the only solution is to unplug it to reboot.
28 December 2022 at 09:15 #37945I think 3 issues I’ve seen:-
1. Changing PUC on an active source hangs the BeoApp and limits BR1. Factory reset
2. Changing BR1 names in Lists hangs the BR1 rename. Factory reset.
3. Yesterday, LG updated and the Theatre/BeoApp hung up needing a soft reboot
28 December 2022 at 11:53 #37931I noticed that in the sound settings you can adjust the line in sensitivity. I haven’t played around with this but mine is set to medium from factory.
Your post suggests you have adjusted your BeoGram but perhaps an alternative solution could be to adjust the input sensitivity or in any event for other users with analogue line input issues.
