@Carolpa: Not an issue with the echo as it’s not my intention to play both the BL3500 and the CX100 on the same time. So how it’s setup now is really how I wanted to get it to work.

Skipping the BLC for the BS9000 and putting the other two BLC’s in slave mode just give me issues once again with that BS65400 (via BLC-BS6) isn’t responding N.RADIO/A.MEM and bottom line is that ‘isolating’ the various system using BLC’s was the way to go. So I’m sticking to the current setup using 3 BLC now.

The previous BLC-BSM has been renamed to BLC-BV10 to make it more clear which device it’s actually being used to link the Moment with. Makes sense now when I understand the BLC far better having spent a few hours and getting the help from this forum. As many others, I got the first BLC to use together with the Moment which was setup 8 years ago and since it’s been working flawless since then and never looked at it again 🙂 So the current BLC-BV10 is now then Audio Master with the following ML sources:

      blc-bv10_ML-Sources

And during the weekend I picked up a BR1 at the local B&O shop in Helsingborg which makes things more smooth with the possibility of adding and renaming the various commands to reflect the various system makes it eaier to remember and understand and as well high WAF.

      @Carolpa
, @Guy & @Tignum: Highly appreciate and thanks for all your help and patience getting this to work and as much some of the BLC function might be a bit odd behaviour and potential improvement which could be done be B&O (which most likely will never happen) but got me to look into the wrong direction. For example the IR-command which one can totally ignore as Tignum indicated including that I thought that the BLC also would act as a device which would be able to perform ‘command translation’ (thinking of network address translation here…) and act a bit more like a router but which does does to a certain extend and then not. But, in the end it’s working perfect!

Hi bnousr, great to hear and happy to have been of help! Good experience for me too as I also learned a bit more on the way :-). I also was searching for the most logical Beo4 user experience, like you. Again, great to see that B&O made connecting three generations of link systems possible, with full control. Enjoy!

(PS – the only thing with the BeoVirus is, now everything works, you will need something else to play with! I am considering adding an Encore (don’t want the BM5) to feed into one of my BLCs)

First of all……..you guys are awsome – it’s been a joy (and inspiration) to follow this thread ?

’….feed an Encore into a BLC’ – that sounds like an interesting project, since the Encore has no ML or alike ?

Found an Encore advertised, that turned out to be a BS5/BM5 500GB floorstand combo. I decided to take it :-). It works and I think controlling it with the pointer beam is charming.

Beauty however is in the eye of the beholder – I am facing fierce objection to add this work of art to our kitchen! It is called the dentist intake stand at the moment.

            Keep you posted 😉

Keeping you posted, I have now integrated the BS5/BM5 combo into the mix. What I did since I got it:

              • rubbed the sticky soft touch coating from the BS5 with methylated spirit (under the coating is black gloss paint, it is looking quite nice again, and is much nicer to touch)
              • had the cover of the BM5 sandblasted and powder coated in black fine structure (only pity is that the BANG & OLUFSEN logo is lost now)
              • vacuumed out the BM5 with a soft brush (lots of dust, I damaged the yellow soft foam pad of the fan, but could replace it with a pad I had left when I gutted an HDR2)
              • cloned the 500G HDD onto a 1T SSD, then stretched the data partition so there is almost 1TB space for content (using the helpful threads in the Forum and with some help of my brother, the BM5 needed a couple of recovery startups but now works rock solid)20230429_201643

              • put it in Option 0, connected it to NL using a 3rd BLC in A Slave setting, only pushing N.MUSIC onto NL (I tried it straight onto the main ML network first with AM NO setting, but the system behaved a bit weird then, possibly with the main BLC being an A MASTER)
              • converted my ALAC based iMusic library (all ripped CDs) into FLAC files using XLD
              • placed the set behind my home office desk so the BS5 sits next to my monitor (so not in the kitchen :-))

Now the system looks like this:

              230507 beosetup.001

As I type this I am I in the kitchen listening to The Police playing on the BS5 in the attic.

              20230507_115523

I can also play my (ALAC) library through my Core and Twonky, but what I want to explore now is the MOTS functionality (currently 20% scanned), as well as the Favorites, using the four colored buttons on the Beo4. Also I think the screen is not perfectly horizontal, maybe there is a possibility to set the rotation stop of the bajonet style fixation for that.

The interesting thing to know maybe is that when I did set the BS5 to connect to my Twonky/DLNA ALAC library, it played all the ALAC files fine, it only did not show the album art at all. I decided not to dig any deeper on that and convert the library into FLAC and place it on the (now) SSD of the BM5. All album art is shown perfectly after using the XLD converting.

              Enjoy your sunday! Regards, Johan

A little update of some of today’s tinkering: I found a left alone Airport Express that I connected to the optical input of the Core. Its only role is Airplay. In the BLC driving the main Masterlink network I assigned the A.AUX command to Optical of the Core. It is a command that is also available on older remotes, which is the reason why it is easier for me to use than using Airplay of the Core. System looks like this now:‎230507 beosetup.‎001

I added the option settings of all the equipment too (for me to remember them ha).

                  Merry Christmas all!

                  Johan
