I’ve completly overhauled this Beosystem 2500: changed all the belts (tape, CD loader, doors), cleaned, greased, and tested the whole thing, works great.

Except the doors!! They seem to open fine as the edge of the glass aligns with the edge of the black plastic (towards the center) when opened. They also close smoothly, but stop a little short. It has a gap inbetween the closed doors, maybe 5 or 10mm. It’s bothersome, and when I manually push the doors, they go all the way.

      What could be doing this?

First image is with the gap, second is after pushing it all the way by hand. Looks like the right window is off but the left is spot on.

Move the doors on the string.
Losen the small clamps, move them and tighten them again.

Have a look at this old thread for detailed instructions with pictures: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.ouronlineserver.com/forums/p/4707/42777.aspx#42777

So, that worked. But the right window sits a little lower than the left still. They close right, but the top and bottom edges don’t align properly. The right door sags a tiny bit. I can push it up, unlike the left and it feels like the cable isn’t taught on that side or something. Any ideas?

I have never seen a problem with door vertical alignment mentioned on the forum!

If the little brackets are undamaged (i.e not bent) and glued to the door glass in the correct (symmetrical) positions, I would double check that you have assembled the BC2500 correctly. Cable tension may be an issue, but I would expect this to affect both doors as there is only one cable.

The hight of the glass door cannot be adjusted.

Either somebody glued it at the wrong position or the doors are out of spec… and i have never seen any door out of spec.

Epoxy will not work for long time.

Loctite 480 will do the job.

Noted. How do I remove the old glue? I’m not sure what it is, it kinda yellowed. I was thinking about scraping it off with a blade but I’m worried it might peel off the black rectangle that’s on the window. Would acetone be a better option? I don’t know how the black rectangle would react to it or if there is any finish on the glass that would react…

Upon closer inspection, it looks like the bracket fell off the door at some point and was glued back slightly wrong… It fell off again now so I have to figure out how to clean the old glue and which glue to use to put it back on. Open to advice, I only have 2 parts epoxy glue at home.
