“The BS1 is not being updated, it’s being EOL’d.”
Not when you rarely come on this board anymore ?. This is my first visit for months! I can’t cope with the early 90s-style board format. It’s really needs an update.
“speak to your dealer”
Also, who has a ‘dealer’ anymore? Again, very 90s thinking Sandyb. Not only do I not buy enough B&O kit these days to have ‘a dealer’ but there’s no B&O store within 100 miles of me now!
If I replaced my BS2’s, for example, I’d only be gaining very marginal updates. I don’t need to stereo pair and it’s a lot of replacement cash for items which were under £1500 only 3 years ago!
11 March 2023 at 09:56 #44415oh agreed, I have no intention nor need to swap my BS2 for a Mozart version. The trade in would cost 2650 less (let’s say) 750/800 = 1900GBP.
Little logic in doing so.
17 March 2023 at 02:22 #44417The website today says, “Beosound A9: Don’t mess with the classics. Unless it’s to bring them bang up to date. Beosound A9 is now available with stereo pairing, smoother in-app setup, and improved Wi-Fi performance. ” But it lists the same Wi-Fi specs as before (2.4/5GHz, ac support). Does anybody know what is improved? Was the old SoC/antenna combo sub-par? One other thing I noticed about the Gen.5 is that the USB C Aux Input is apparently only analog? Whereas Gen.4 spec lists a 3.5mm jack that was “combi”, i.e. supported optical too? I don’t have one to test… does anybody know if that was true?
Wi-Fi specs are the same but the underlying hardware platform (RAM, streaming module) is newer. CPU goes from a dual-core Cortex A7 (ASE latest gen) to a quad-core Cortex A53 (Mozart).
I’m curious too as to why they decided to ditch optical/digital input (mini-TOSlink) in recent Mozart products (or any other digital input method for that matter, i.e. they could have used USB-C digital audio, that they’ve been using for years with their Bluetooth headphones and speakers).
