      Hello all,

I have a Beolit 12 which I can not seem to link to my iPhone. I did have it working at one time, about a year ago, but now I can not to connect it. The instructions from B&O are cryptic, at best and the “instructions” on the inside of the battery door are worse than Ikea instructions.

The closest I can get is the green network light blinking on the top, with my iPhone connected to the temporary Beolit12 “network” in the WiFI settings, but no further. When I open the B&O app to add the product, I select Beolit12, all it does is push me back to the network settings where my iPhone is already connected. I can’t proceed from there.

I contacted B&O support, as well. They just gave me the same set of instructions that I already have that do not work. Does anyone have any ideas or a better set of instructions to follow that has worked for them?

      Thank You!

Unfortunately the possibility to set up these older Wi-Fi speakers has been retired from the Bang & Olufsen app. However, you can always set up your speaker outside of the app. You’re already on the right track, so just proceed from where you are connected to the temporary Beolit 12 setup hotspot.

        1. Open Settings on your iPhone and go to Wi-Fi settings.
        2. Make sure you’re connected to the Beolit 12 hotspot.
        3. Tap on the little “i” button next to the network name, a new screen with network details opens.
        4. Scroll down to the “IPv4 Address” section. There, find item named “Router” and note down that IP address (you can also press and hold to copy it).
        5. Go to Safari, type or paste in the IP address from previous step and tap Go.
        6. You should end up in the “black pages” of the Beolit 12, where you can set up the speaker to connect to your main Wi-Fi network.

Let me know if this worked for you.

Hello, I just saw this reply and it was helpful. I was able to get in and connect it to our WiFi network and I can see it listed in the device list in the B&O app as well as our client list in our router. Now I can’t figure out how to play music to it. I don’t see it in the Bluetooth device list on my phone.

          Thanks, again for the help!

Oh, ok. It has been so long since we used it, I must have forgotten about that. I’ll give that a try.

            Thanks, again!!

              Glad it was helpful.

The only way to play music wirelessly on Beolit 12 is to use AirPlay – it does not have Bluetooth at all. In most music apps there is a menu to choose which audio output to use, otherwise you can find the menu in Control Centre, by tapping the little AirPlay symbol in the top right corner of the “Now Playing” tile.

Well, I tried playing with Airplay, however it doesn’t show up in the device Airplay list, only our family room AppleTV shows up there. I guess we could just connect a cable to the line-in port and try that.

                    Hi all,

my Beolit 12 is apprising in the B&O app, but every time i try to add it, the app will crash.

I have it setup in my wifi and can play via airplay, but i wonder if upgrading the SW will make it possible to also pair it eventually with other airplay speaker (airplay 2) or add it in the group within the B&O app, so I can include it in my multi room with e.g. the M5 or others.

which firmware does your Beolit 12 have? 1.02.12?

                    any thoughts or experiences?

                      @berd

The best results I have had trying to update the sw of a Beolit 12 is to use a network cable to the router – and then to follow this guide.

You will never be able to integrate a Beolit 12 in an AP2 multiroom setup, since the AP receiver in the 12 is AP1 only.

Also it will not be able to integrate with other (newer) B&O speaker e.g. the M5 as a multiroom speaker.

If you want to workaround these facts, you could connect an Apple AirPort Express to the line-in of the 12. The APE has – when updated – support for Airplay 2.

If you’d connect a Essence MK2 box, you could use AP2 as well as let it be part of a B&O multiroom setup.

In these cases the 12 will serve as a speaker only.

                      MM
