This may have been covered before in one of the incarnations of this forum, but thought I’d share regardless. Like many, my Beolink 7000 was developing suspected fuse/powerboard issues and after months of work (obtaining 3 parts units and replacing every component possible and then some) with continued blown fuses and inconsistent readings from the Beolink when on the bench; I decided to opened up the charger and take some readings.
Through testing I discovered the C5 (small 25v 4.7uf) cap to be faulty, but C4 ( large 1000uf 25v) cap still well within spec despite its age. This struck me as unusual so I tested the remaining components on the board. Everything, but C5 tested normal. I proceeded to perform the same tests on the 3 parts units chargers I had (all V2 U.S. and E.U. models) discovering 2 additionally faulty C5’s, and one that would fluctuate between tests as faulty dead/ registering well out of its 20% range/4 times higher ESR compared to spec. After replacing both C5 and C4 in all the chargers in my possession, and using them to charge/power my Beolink 7000 (and one parts unit I was able to restore) over many hours my remotes issues ceased and neither have developed any further faults/problems.
Looking through the past threads these power issues seem common, and usually attributed to the internal power board. Those issues may very well be unrelated to what I was experiencing, however, with the high prevalence of C5 failures in my sample group, and the resolution of issues upon replacement, it probably would not hurt those with Beolink 7000’s with tabletop chargers (whether displaying issues or not) to replace these caps seeing as they are now all well over 30 years old.
