Anyone have any ideas on why a Beogram CD 5500 wont play?

CD tray opens closes smoothly, “tracks” show on the front, but won’t play or show track numbers when play is pressed on unit or remote.

Could it be a dirty laser lens, Capacitor, or drive belt?

      Thanks,

      P.

The main suspect is always C2103 for these types of decks. Once that has been changed, the troubleshooting can go into other capacitors.

Thank you, I’ll order that kit and take it from there!

            What Filip said.
And there is a convenient kit for the servo board for exactly this.
            Here.

It is definitely worth trying something I picked up on one of the Bang and Olufsen forums (probably here) which worked for my white BeoGram 5500 before going down the capacitor route like I did (bought the one in the link) but luckily didn’t need to have. Just cleaning the CD lens, only took a few minutes then my white Beogram CD5500 sprung back into life.
