You would have to replace the blue Phillips capacitor C2108 and then your 5500 are playing again, that is a common problem on most CD players.

you can buy the kit here:

Capacitor kit for CDm Disc Drive Servo Beogram CD Beocenter

It’s C2103. Indeed it’s the blue one to the left of the microprocessor on the above board. A very simple capacitor to change, as long as you get the right one 🙂

            Its a axial 33µF 16V Capacitor. I just exchaned it on a Beogram CD7000:

            Old:

            P1040202

            New:

            P1040205

            I used a radial 33µF 25V one. It worked like a dream.

Could be that the laser reach the end. Or laser current must be corrected ( don’t do if you are not familiar, you would kill the laser from overcurrent)

Changed all elktrolytte capasitors. Got a kit from Beoparts. Problem solved. AS NEW.

Any further details you can supply of the ‘simple’ change would be most appreciated for the non-electronic electorate amongst us, video, images would be fantastic

                    Thanks

indeed. i read somewhere that you need to take a normal high esr elco, a low esr elco does not work there …
