My Beogram 5500 has suddenly suffered loss of turntable speed control. It seems to have been a suddebn and spontaneous failure, without any evident cause or underlying factor. The turntable now rotates considerably faster than it should, with a continuous (and very noticeable!) fluctuation. The problem affects both 33 and 45 rpm settings. A table is attached to summarise what is happening. The drive belt has been changed but this made no apparent difference to the problem. The drive motor (together with its integral small circuit board) has been independently shown to be working perfectly when fitted into another Beogram 5500 unit. Is this a known problem that affectsd this unit? And – if so – can it be readily repaired? Any help or advice will be gratefully received. Many thanks.
Regards, Bill Fraser
