I recently acquired a dead 4002 turntable. I changed a bunch of transistors that tested badly and turned it on. It all worked for about a minute then the rectifier diodes (D1-D4) started smoking. Any ideas?

      Thanks

        Any ideas?

In addition to what Martin said…

Are you doing your powering-on using a “dim bulb tester” (or equivalent)? If not, you might want to. This would reduce the possibility of doing more damage while you sort things out.

thanks for the response. Appreciate it. I am using a dim bulb tester now….I replaced TR13 and 14 as they tested bad. But now IC1 is suspect – tests as a diode on a working 4002. Fails any test on this board.

            Something shorted?
            Which transistors did you replace?
            How did they measure wrong?
And what did you fit instead?
