      Hi guys,

a bad day today. I worked on a tape mechanism on a BC 9500 and made a huge mistake.

I closed the front while the BC was still on power and somehow i shortenend something – approx. in the area of the motor of the lid on the right side close to the cd mechanism.

Then it maked a short buzz and now it´s not working anymore.

Not completely dead. The initial red lamp comes still up. But if i want to open a lid (cass or cd) nothing happens. If i press radio, then he´s trying to come back, shows for a second the lights for radio, but nothing more.

No reaction on any other button.

Could someone give me a hint, where to start first?

A happy sunday for all of you

        Hi 69er:

Assuming you didn’t see any magic smoke, you probably blew one of several fuses in the unit and hopefully that is the extent of the damage.

        1. Remove the plastic cover where the power cord enters the unit. There are several glass fuses. Check to see if any are blown.
        2. There are two round fuses that look like the old ROE hard plastic capacitors. The are cylindrical. They can be found on the circuit board along the back of the unit that is attached to the black heat sink across the back. You don’t need to de-solder them. They are pin mounted and can be gently pulled out. Check to see if there is any continuity.

If there was magic smoke, then you will need to figure out what you shorted out and replace the parts accordingly.

          Thanks Derek,

i will try. Please cross fingrs. The item itself really looks nice and everything worked well.

Just need to fix my ouverture on the table, where ic hhave issues with the tape deck(s). Have one, where turn doesn´t work, one where it only spins in one direction (even if fast forward runs in both) and one where turn leads to an immediat stop of all wheels.
